Newcomer / Intro CZ difficulties

Hi all,

Today I lost my Cobra twice in one of Community Goals related Combat Zone and I have no idea why. I go into the CZ, picked a side (Allioth Independents against the Sobek Boys), shooting away at the red target with gimbal and turret weapons. The next thing I know, everyone else turn red and they ALL start shooting at me. Naturally, I don't last long, and over 5 millions Cr in ships gone. :S The insurance loan just managed to cover me, but now I can't afford to lose another one. (I also lost one yesterday by crashing into a space station but that's another matter entirely.... )

Any idea why they all targeted me?

Most likely your turret is set to fire at will. hit your allies.

yeah i saw one guy did the same, he went docking and swapped to gimballed and it solved the problem
But i recon target only will solve it as well tho

The turret is set to Targeted, could I have "missed" and hit someone else (what I suspected the 1st time), or shot through the just destroyed ship onto what's behind (possibly the 2nd time)?

That's quite possible, especially with kinetic weapons - the projectile takes time to reach its target, and if you do hull damage to a ship, it will turn hostile.

I lost two Cobra's in as many days by crashing in to stuff too whilst flying when very tired... I know the pain of your loss

I wouldnt go into a HiCZ with a Cobra at all. A LoCZ maybe, but not without serious tankage.
The BH CG is a lot more affable to a Cobra pilot (more reward, less risk)

Only visited a CZ once. It did not go well.

I won't return until I have a dedicated fighter
