CZ - Small Ship and "Kill-Stealing"-Capitalship ... How do you do it?

First of all - I love flying small ships in CZ (mainly DBS and Cobra MKIII), and don't intend to change it, only because all High Intensity CZs in the current war I'm fighting in are haunted by Capital Ships.

My experience so far:

- i can't bring enough damage to the enemy ships attacking the Capital Ship to get the kill
- 95% of all spawned enemy ships are directly attacking the capship and destroyed shortly after ... it's nice to watch for some minutes, but.
- it sometimes works to open fire and lure the enemy ships away from the cap ship .... sometimes, and very rarely
- it sometimes works to cycle through contact to find a fleeing enemy ship and finish it off (cobra mkIII with seekers, MC and lonrange beam works nicely for that)

anybody has tips for me, how i can get more kills?
or is it like that for a small ship commander - no way to do it, and i need to move to the low intensity CZs?

I tried to find the rule for which ships you get credited, but AFAICS, it's random, though if you shoot newly spawned ships, you often get the credit, and also the ships that run right away from the capital ship. I ended up getting about 30 kills per visit, which is what i get in any CZ in my Corvette before I run out of Ammo, but I found it much more frustrating with the Capital ship there.

Small ship CMDR here. As neat as it is at first to see a cap ship in your CZ, it quickly becomes tedious.

I've found that intercepting the wave as they come in works, also, lasers seem to work better than multicannons for some reason. It's all a big crap shoot.

I'd suggest moving over to the low.

so, basically spawn point camping? oh well...

That's all have been able to come up with too, but even then the numbers spawning are so low compared to the overwhelming odds of the faction with the capital ship that it takes forever to rack a decent number of kills. Nice as they are to look at, friendly capital ships are the bane of my CZ life.

I hadn't considered going to a low CZ... Worth a try.

I think i'll have to put up a suggestion/feedback in the subforum... all comments don't read like if i'm missing something obvious. "capital ship - the movie" is for sure not what was intended when countering afk bondsfarming.

the problem with low CZ for a combat-high-ranked-small-ship cmdr like me is, that you much more often end up being ganked as the highest threat around... you have to run quite often, and can't work along the side of your green furball, which is part of the fun for me - the tactical flying.

That's right. The last shot counts so use beam lasers.

i have 1 beam laser. even longrange. i guess the capital ship does to much hits per ms, even compared to my beam.... I'll check it out more closely.

Go to a HI CZ without capital ships (not all HI have them). Even if you rout the capital ship, you only get 150,000 and it takes forever to do.

Go to the low intensity CZs.

Even with a large ship CZs with a capital ship on your side are mostly decoration. Actually slow large ships are worse in cap ship CZ as you don't reach the few still existing enemy ships…

And now the tip: Beam lasers, small turreted if you want. The cap ship has the same kill priority as a player - the last shot gets the kill. Use beams and your chance of getting the last shot increases. Not enough to make it worthwhile, but yea…

Go to the low intensity CZs.

you won't believe it, but in this strange case, the backwater system i'm working has capital ships in both HI CZ ... absurd. the federal throws two cap ships into a 60k people system, and the local faction fighting them pay for two imperial cap ships, to counter it... meanwhile, they throw multi million condas and them like against them to be crushed in 30 seconds. and all i want to do is to stop that madness... because it's blocking the progress of a faction i'm working for.

That might be suicidal if npc still go for the nearest enemy.
If you camp at the spawnpoint you are the nearest enemy.

in case of an elite conda spawning i could simply run...

i have a beam, and yes, it works SOMETIMES. thanks for the beam tip in here - i got 15 kills without firing any missile or MC, while watching the cap ship animations for 30 minutes, before switching to the low CZ.

...

i do hope, sarah avory looks into it. imagine, if the AI would not select the cap ship as the highest threat, and all ships wound fight around the cap ships ... and you would have to really watch out not to get into their gunsight while dogfighting a vulture!
