CZ's - i need to vent.

i think CZ's need a proper rework. im not terrible at combat, i went into a CZ with my fully modded Chieftain, bunch of lasers and dual pacifiers, it melts everything... Or at least i thought.

first encounter an Vulture, no problems. think of taking on something else, so i target a Annie. the amount of Hull and shields those have, its not even fun to fight against. and when it hit 44% hull, it just ran.
i can understand the realism argument behind them fleeing. but there is no real fun in it.

the health and behavior of fleeing is not fun. i rather have the payout nerfed, and have more ships go BOOM. i remember the days i went into the CZs with a Non modded vulture and dual pulse, blowing up every ship left and right, popping those powerplants.

🤔 So you haven't even come across the almost invulnerable captains or OP Spec Ops yet?

P.S. Git gud scrub ;)
No i havent. i just had a 2 year break, with some small on/off moments. had fond memories of what CZ's used to be i guess.. wanted to check it out. but after that encounter, i might aswell just go back to my HAZRES.

PS. u wot m8

for something going boom faster that's the better place - i'd add comp nav beacons to the list.
i used to have the best spot ever in Beta 3 Tucani, a rockless HAZRES, all miners would just leave and all the wanted came to scan me. but that RES is no more.

What CZ was it? A high? What engineering do you have on your weapons?
Targeting a condas power supply usually means it pops before it gets to 44% hull.
I can solo a high CZ in my Vulture with no problem...on the very rare occasion a ship does engage it's FSD I target said FSD and the ship can no longer jump. Simples.
Try gimballed MCs instead of pacifiers, much easier to target sub systems. Right tools for the job and all that :)
The CZs are very different from a few years ago, I agree with that. Going from splatting pirates, or assassination missions, to a high CZ can be a bit of a shock as the military ships are so tough in comparison.

Here's my tip for dealing with the "Big 3", but it applies to all ships too...

Lots of Lasers for killing shields (I prefer to use Efficient Burst Lasers) , sub-target their Power Plant, once their Shield drops try and stay underneath them and keep hitting their PP.
9/10 times they'll explode before their hull drops below 50% (y)

You probably did come across a Captain with that Conda with crazy shields that ran.
i understand the running, but its not really fun to dump all ammo into a NPC, only for it to jump away. and end of the day i play games for fun..

its a fully modded G5 chieftain, triple thermal vent beams, an corrosive mc and dual pacifier frags. the conda couldnt even hurt me, as i could stay on his tail all day.
but him running away just took my satisfation of killing him in the end.

If it was a captain then you did your bit, they're no longer on the battlefield :) The aim is to win the battle, not an individual one on one fight.
I wouldn't say CZs are for credit farming, the payouts are still extremely low compared to HazRes or Pirate Activity signal sources...or most other things for that matter.
The trick I use for captains is to take out the "smaller" enemy ships near them, that frees up your allies, who then pile into the captain. Then you join in.

yeah i just went there to check it out, not really for the credits.

i mean, im not a greenhorn at ED, got 3000 hours into it, and 10b in assets. all i wanted to blow up ships and have fun LOL

My CZ Mamba has 4 Efficient Burst Lasers and a Huge Corrosive MC for this exact reason.

Efficient Burst Lasers get their Shields down pretty quickly, add some extra damage and don't drain WEP power.
Huge Corrosive MC packs a hell of a punch and the Corrosive effect essentially adds bonus damage to all the weapons firing at once.

I've been eagerly awaiting another CZ CG for some lore based war to sink my teeth into again.

OP, soon you will wish they were harder, that is if you put in more practice. Also, I would suggest analyzing what happened and adjust your tactics or ship configuration before simply concluding that CZ’s need to be reworked because you weren’t able to kill a conda before it departed.

my conclusion is that they have to much health, and run. i remember CZs being waaaay more fun a few years back.

and telling people they need more practice is just a fancy way of saying "git gud scrub".
practice isnt something i need, this isnt my first rodeo

A while back NPCs in CZs were buffed into ridiculous bullet sponges to provide a challenge for fully engineered ships, that's probably what you're noticing. They also made NPCs across the board flee more often to force you to put them down fast or chase them.

I hear ya. I was not at all impressed with them either at first. With some tweaks to load out and strategy though, they really aren't much of an issue now (depending on ship I'm in, sometimes they'll still get away).
