Damn you VR - fell in Love with the Sidewinder LOL

I usually fly my FAS which I love and sometimes my FDL which is just soo powerful that I can not resist her sometimes... and I have an Imperial eagle for stealth pvp when i feel like it.

Today i got me a sidey to move one of my ships closer to where I was with the others... I love that Cockpit there is something about it! So I thought oh what the hell lets Outfit it A grade... and I put in a beam laser turret and a multicannon turret and flew to a nav beacon...

Ist soo satisfying to see those 2 turrets right in front of you - they look HUGE :D and track and destroy ships... within a few minutes I had the Money back for the A grad Outfit! And what can i say... I jus tlove the ship
I will stick with it for a while - even went out and interdicted a commande rin an ASP - almost killed him he ran and high waked out :D so now I Sport a wake scanner too lol

and so a new Adventure Begins....

love VR!! Elite in VR is crazy addictive!

Welcome to the madness I've been in a Sidey for ages now and I'm slowly going towards Triple Elite :)

Yes, the Sidey's cockpit is beautiful. I already liked it, when not in VR, but once you get the size and can witness the freedom of view, its just beautiful.

And its quite impressive, how the awareness a VR setup adds, influences your combat skills. Its going from clicking pixels to almost reality. Combined with a decent HOTAS, the precision you get in your maneuvers is so cool.

If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful.. erm.. actually as powerful, as I was before

The Sidewinder is a neat little ship, and a swarm of them are more effective than you'd imagine. The best thing about them is that Captain Scarlet feel it gives you. You can go into any situation no matter how suicidal, and you know that it is not going to cost you millions in insurance.

I still have my Sidey stealth build, which we used in a wing of 4 Sideys to hunt UAs and UA convoys when they first appeared. It was not only effective, but also a lot of fun, because we had to assign different roles to each ship. One had a cargo scanner, one a wake scanner, one with discovery scanner and one with defensive stuff. Two ships carried weapons to crack shields and two were equipped to deal hull damage. Actually that was one of my absolute highlights since original beta.

I really have to take it to an engineer to see, what you can get out of that little ship... Enhanced Engine modules and tuned FSD will make this ship beyond awesome for sure.

ok so I am not the only one :D thought I go crazy hehe - WOW EdzUp sounds like you flying her since quite some time :D
I will put a Hangar in so I can do some prospecting as well awesome!

I LOVE the sidey too. Fit a PVH, take it to a planet and get out, and then, just look back at it. It's so lovely. Such a personal ship. Drive around for a while, return, and then take off, and fly across the area you just drove around on. Expect the most incredible VR feeling you've ever had at around that point. Guaranteed.

I think the Sidey is instantly relatable and comfortable in VR because the scale makes it feel so similar to a Car's interior. Just need some fuzzy dice and some fast food wrappers floating around in there.

Interesting comment about the sidie. I am currently on holiday in Egypt and my CV1 is waiting for me at home. Once I have it up and running, I intended to switch to my Cobra to let the whole family experience VR for the first time.
I am not trying to steal the OP's thread, but would love to hear VR comments about the Cobra.

Depending on the replies, the family could end up in the Sidie.

Thanks in anticipation.

Apart from the BBC Micro keyboard I find the cobra interior unremarkable, it's too dark with a fairly poor view.

The sidey and both Eagles are a lot more effective at giving an extreme reaction to the player (the sidey's car with a sunroof and the eagles closeness to a jet cockpit) imo.

Now you just need to buy some enhanced drives for it, and spend some time buzzing around canyons and/or asteroid fields.
Heck, that's a blast even without VR. :)

The Cobra is perfect in VR, IMO. Not too cavernous, like a Lakon cockpit, but not cramped either. There's just enough free space in that cockpit that I can imagine fold away beds and other useful fixtures tucked away behind panels, allowing my commander and one other to live out in the field when they're not docked at a convenient station.

I think it may help that my Roomscale VR space is just about the same size as the Cobra's cockpit. I even put down tape so I can put a second chair in that space, so I can sit in the copilot's seat from time to time.
