Dang! Blew up my SRV.

First for everything. Right?
I just recently got back into the game after a PC rebuilt, reloading bindings and Voice Attack. This took awhile to do and get use to my controls once more.
So took off to explore just so I could slowly get use to my controls and make credits at the same time. All was well till I let VA fill in the missing binds as I play in VR.

So land on a body and decide to deploy the srv, all good but need to make some changes. I was not out of the ship for a long time when I get a warning that I will run out of oxygen. So try to use my commands as I had them setup for my ship but no. Binds were different, voice command not working. I need to open my side panel so I can resupply. Can't...So make a run for my ship and make it and try voice command to board ship, not happening. I am panicking at this point, my controls won't even show my role panel, cannot manually input command. Times run out and big bad-a-boom under my ship.

I was choke. I am roughly 350 jumps from my destination but now without a SRV. C'est la vie, life goes on. Just need to make sure I don't lose my ship now as have a whack of FTF and so on to cash in. Just not sure how or why I depleted my oxygen so quickly after being deployed.

Yeah, it takes a while sometime to realise that binds are all in different sections in the binds menu and you have to set them up specifically for each vehicle and even on foot. But there's one thing, bet you won't ever be caught out like that again lol! Your SRV doesn't get resupplied by loading it into the ship, only when docking at a station, so it may have been using it up for a while and you didn't realise it until the warning came up.

Sounds like you ran out of fuel. Which indeed only gets replenished on stations and the like, Thus it more or less slowly diminishes while you drive around. And out in the field, only synthesizing can replenish it. Always make sure you have the materials to synthesize SRV fuel with you on such a field trip.
And if you find yourself in such a pickle, turning off anything that isn't essential, like shields and such, helps you preserve fuel while you try and find out how to sythesize it.

I would recommend to take your time reiterating your binds after a new installation. I'd rather wait one day longer for really getting beck in the game and have my binds where I think I want them* than rush things and end up exploding at every possible moment due to botched binds.

*: Corrections can be made on the fly, as long as you have a functioning bind to begin with. Preferably by hand.

Like I mention, just recently got back into the game and guess I forgot about some things. It didn't help that I panic but only had less then 4 minutes to live. LOL.
I'm also having issues with Voice attack, think it has to do with button press delays or whatever its call.

Also no carriers near where I am, bubble it will be.

Are you sure, there are a lot of DSAA carriers out there, and stations as well, if you are anywhere near the Colonia highway there are stations and megaships every 500ly and east and west of the bubble there are remote stations.

Pretty certain, nowhere near that area but will check again. Maybe that is why I am getting FTF at every jump, have not cross path where someone might have flown through yet.

Really, check again.

With a few minutes of SRV fuel left, one option is to go to the main menu and chose the "stuck recovery" option under help, that will put you back in your ship in orbit (I presume with the SRV aboard? Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody).

It does indeed.

What it can also do, from recent experience, is put ones ship at the entry point to the system - which was a bit of an unpleasant surprise given the body my SRV got stuck on was c.300kLs from the entry point.

Merely an inconvenience these days!

My biggest mistake: thinking there's plenty of time after the "Fuel low" warning.
(Actually, that may not be the biggest - they're all big mistakes with dire consequences.)

Yeah my biggest mistake is thinking, "My that ground is far away, how can I get there quicker, I suppose a little boost can't hurt!" Narrator "Yes a little boost can hurt as our brave explorer discovered more than once!"

Unless you are somewhere where your SRV can get shot at is there any advantage to having the shields eating up fuel?
