[IMGUR]JOMf1IPGreetings Commanders,

The contenders for the Dangerous Games have been announced and are listed below. I've added some details from FD, INARA and other sources.
I hope this information will help you decide which is worthy of your support in the upcoming Dangerous Games.
One other will join them, but who will emerge from the scrum of frontiersmen hoping for glory? Only time will tell.

Border Coalition [BC] (qualified faction - Dukes of Mikunn)

If you want to know more about the Border Coalition, please follow this link

Social Eleu Progressive Party [SEPP]
-An Independent cluster of system, free from any Major Faction and away from any of the current Powers. A haven where explorers are not chased or interdicted, and where humankind come together for research, exploration of our wonderful galaxy. We want to create a Power that would be the antitheses of a traditional Power: we will sign a neutrality pact with all current ones -as we wouldn't step on anyone's toes if our systems become one, and we will focus on offering a safe space were no one is chased regardless their alignment. At the same time, push for expanding towards the core. Let them have the bubble: we want the Galaxy.

Interstellar Communist Union [ICU]
* Despite the fact that the group consists of a the Russian-speaking pilots, it contains pilots from many countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, France, Latvia, United States), and in our plans - the creation of a multilingual international gaming community.
* Our model of Interstellar Communism is based on the literary works of Arkady and Boris Strugatsky and their "Noon Universe". It's fantasy, yes, and it's a dream. Just Like Elite Dangerous - it's fantasy! So... Why should the dream not be realized there where it can be reality?

Alliance Elite Diplomatic Corps [AEDC]

Diplomats with teeth, doing the dirty work for the Alliance since the year 3300
The Alliance provides a cooperation framework for independent systems to thrive and progress away from the machinations of the two powerful human blocks. It respects the independence and rule to self-determine how each people should govern their own societies. Acknowledging that the only way humanity can progress in through diversity and exploration of different systems of governance and organisation, in contrast to the stagnant overreaching power blocks, but providing powerful back up to avoid bullying from those same power blocks.

GalCop (qualified faction - Diamond Frogs)

The Galactic Co-operative of Worlds was once the unifying galactic government of the majority of human populated space. However, due to a series of catastrophic problems they collapsed and many of their worlds re-aligned to the Federation and Empire, which both rose up to fill the void as superpowers. GalCop's core worlds went on to become the Alliance, similar to the alliance which spawned GalCop in the beginning.

Several factions throughout human space see the need for such a unifying power to exist once more and are pledging to cooperate together for mutual benefit and defence. Seeking to revive the name and spirit of the original GalCop

Nice post :)

It is going to be quite interesting to see what happens, though honestly I think wildcards have a slightly higher chance of winning then the big groups, because there will be groups made up to oppose them, so maybe someone quick and sneaky can make it past that.

Fixed, was trying to post links to individual images rather than album

Information on the Wildcards is being released on a day by day basis here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=243366

I was going to do 'the big 5' after the voting for the wildcard was confirmed.

But then it would be 6! I'm really looking forward to all the community activity so wanted to get the ball rolling early. Will update as we go.

ICU Interstellar Communist Union (ICU) are a Russian group and they have a Forum and also a VK page (Russian equivalent to facebook).
The cross language gap works in their favour for BGS operations. The Cyrillic in their comms channels means that those of us with little Russian don't realy know what they are up to. It also helps them to stay relatively disengaged fro the noise and drama of the Forums and Reddit - so you may not have heard of them. But they certainly know their stuff in terms of the BGS, and I think there are a few of them to get things moving. They have a common history with CI and some of the founding members have moved between the two groups.

Communism Interstellar have pulled out so that there is a bit of variety in ethos. CI and ICU are pretty close, and like a lot of real world parties on the left, there is a bit of a split, but not bad blood. I believe CI will be supporting ICU, and CI also have a solid understanding of BGS mechanics and tenacity and determination. So after all the jokes about "The People's Front of Judea" the ICU might be the ones to have the last laugh.

Diamond Frogs are an interesting entry. They are kind of like the PvP group of the BGS teams. Aggressive and muscular, they have certainly pulled some noisy stunts. Tip of the hat for their work against Empire's Grace. But they are also very close knit and covert. This might work against them in terms of running a power.
Publicity is something that will be a problem for all the BGS groups who are used to working out of the spotlight.
But the Diamond Frogs certainly know how to make a splash.

There are some other groups at about the DF level of expansion; including The Winged Hussars - a Polish group that includes Fdev Forum Moderator 'Rootstat'. I suspect when there is another 'Rise to Power' you will be seeing these folks in the ring.

Mercs of Mikunn should need no introduction.
When Walt started the BGS thread there were cries of "oh noes - he's given away the farm".
That thread is usually collegial and polite and full of useful (but also sometimes incorrect) information.
Walt is a good organizer and has his hands in many pies. Running a power is well within his abilities, and he also has the necessary capacity for community building.
An FDev favorite, the Mercs as a power will produce plenty of interesting CGs.

SEPP are sweethearts. Keen on the role play, they organise almost entirely in their thread on the Groups Forum. Kranco is a delight. But don't dismiss them, they have not been working the BGS as long as some of the other groups, and their earnest work has put them at the big table. I would think they have their work cut out for them running a power, as they'll need more resources than a thread on FDev. Maybe you are the one to help make a difference for them. Stop Press: the Distant Worlds Expedition DWE has pledged to support SEPP.

Of the WildCard entries, my heart is with Black Omega and I really hope all the Pirates out there throw their support behind them. But I think that Adle's Armada will get more popular support. AA are only just making their first forays into BGS operations and will need to recruit some talent to run a power. No strangers to publicity, they have taken a strong and highly visible stance in a key starter system. Their BGS thread lives here on the Discussion forum instead of off in a Groups forum. Recruitment is their specialty!

The AEDC are one of the oldest BGS teams in the game.
They are well resourced with dedicated servers owned by members for their Forum, Squad Board, Influence Tracker, and Teamspeak.
They are experienced at running long term campaigns that are broken down into small operations. Excellent record keepers they are tracking influence levels of factions across more than a thousand systems.
The possiblty of a "Rise to Power" has been known for a long time. The AEDC have characters, artwork and story for multiple entities ready to go.
They have run CGs in the early days and are acknowledged to have been instrumental in getting Mahon into the excellent economic position he is in today.

The step into the spotlight will undoubtedly cause some problems, but the AEDC have the capacity to run a really solid campaign, and the organization to run a power.

These are just my personal and biased views of the different groups. I'm probably wrong about a lot of things.

There will be a fair old bit of err 'raising the profile' from all the contenders I reckon, each in their own way.

Actually I've just spotted the changes around coalitions on Reddit. This thing is moving to fast for these old bones to keep up.
Might leave it a couple of days to settle and have another look at who's in then.

Dna: All good info and bang on the nose, except CI are part of the Borders coalition (which is what they, MoM and the Hussars have rebounded their coalition entry as).

Additionally, East India Company are in coalition with the Diamondfrogs.

On topic, I genuinely wouldn't discount the Achenar Immortals as a wild card. The are very quiet outside of Facebook, and in addition to this quite a few of the Elite Dangerous Facebook community (even those unaffiliated with his group) rever their leader with the zealous fervour of fanatics

Archenar Immortals.

Hmm, I'd written them off because they haven't gone very hard in the BGS.
Plus - you know: 'Facebook'.
But they ARE going to get a lot of support from The Empire.

Not sure PowerPlay really needs another Empire Power, but hey.

Totally agree with your points re: Another Imperial Power (same goes with the Inquisition as well). However, there limited BGS interest kind of stemmed from the fact their faction kept being delayed by FDEV when it came to insertion into the game. They finally got into the game about two months ago and have so far expanded once and appear to be intent on solidifying their home system first.

I was ready to support SEPP, but reading the following gives me a strange vibe of betraying ones ideals:

Social Eleu Progressive Party [SEPP]

<snip>
We are to remain free of any PowerPlay, Alliance, Empire or Federation influence.

"No, I don't want to be president! I don't want to be involved with politics!"

"Oh, there is a chance to get president? Sign me up!"
