There's a few Elite: Dangerous fan sites starting to appear on the Internet as time draws closer to a release date. There's already some great fiction writers websites. The online ED community is growing, finally!
I don't know what release date you have in mind: the game was released on 16 December 2014.
Many fan sites have existed for years, and quite a number (such as Chango Dock, Slopey's ED Best Profit Calculator, The Relentless, Elite and Real (role playing hub), Elite Palawa, The Thargoid and the Fer De Lance, The Elite Armada...) have disappeared again.
May I be so bold to suggest the idea of a webring? What do other people think? Would it be a feature supported by webmasters on their Elite: Dangerous websites?
There was an
Elite: Dangerous webring from 2013 until 2016 which was maintained by Lave Radio.
It never got very popular, it only contained about a dozen of sites. All of those sites were created by E: D kickstarter backers during the alpha/beta/gamma, no sites joined the ring after the release of the game.
My
Winged Cobra Tribe site was part of that webring, but the ring did not generate much traffic.
I reported it when the web ring was broken in 2016, but nobody reacted and nobody cared.
Edit: There still exists
The Elite Ring, but it looks mostly dead. Before there also existed the FEU (Frontier Elite Universe) Ring, but that one is offline. For the sake of the preservation of the history of the Elite webrings, I add their banners
here.
