Dare i say i love the APEX shuttle service.

Only had oddysey a few days now, loving it so far, i find performance ok so far on my laptop and in the quest vr. Being in vr, i am so far enjoying just taking a shuttle bus to as far as i can, i just tried reaching robigo from the bubble, but fell short halfway not being able to find any more drop off pionts.
I wish this service was extended to reach colonia, i would have a chill out ride and go.

But to get to the point of this post, is there any cool destinations you can think of to reach in the shuttle service. Amazing views, engineering modules to buy ect, i am not trying to earn credits at this point, just to enjoy what oddysey has to offer, i have just come back to this game after not playing for years, vr is the main reason why, it is amazing.

I have almost a billion in the bank, so just looking for fun at this stage, relaxing fun, no combat ect.

If you wanted a jaunt around Colonia, it might be worth checking who is going to, or coming from, the region on FCOC
There you should be able to find a lift both ways, it is just not being able to do much sensible (bar explore for 10 minutes every 25) during transit. (average 16 hours)

As Rat Catcher said, if you want to go to Colonia I can recommend the weekly (usually on mondays) travel service of Cmdrs JonSatriani and Olive_Oyl, carriers Sleeper Service and Marching on together. Flight duration approx 2 days with a stopover at "Collection of Wonders" a really cool system.

I'd love them to have a bit more range than 100 LY, but all the way to Colonia is a bit of a reach. Also, with the current Adder loadout, they have around ~20 LY jump range and that's going to take quite a while. I would like to see different classes of Apex shuttles (Dolphin/Orca/Beluga) with a fuel scoop (and at least an A-rated loadout) which also are able to transport a whole team of players.

You say you play Odyssey in VR from your laptop? That must be one hell of a laptop, or are you playing on heavily reduced settings? I like your idea of extending the APEX shuttle service to a route to and from Colonia. Sometimes I even dream of an exploration shuttle service (free of the need for APEX stations) - but that would probably be too much to ask or at least still(?) dreams of the future.

By the way, I also love the APEX shuttle service, especially for the simple missions where I can read some news or replay some chess games during the flight (which is only interesting for non-VR players I guess). A very welcome addition (which to be honest I didn't really like at first when I only knew the concept - until I started to use and appreciate them).
yes, the specs are in my config, (AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti 6GB Graphics)
and here are my game settings, nothing special, i just turned off the usual ones for vr.
Obviously lots of replaced frames with the ASW, but i don't notice them and get a pretty good experience.

yea, i already thought about that, and is definately on my ;ist to see a carrier jump, and enjoy the trip.

i agree, that would be fantastic.

I’ve never taken an Apex shuttle. How does that work with VR, does it stay in the flat screen mode in your headset or revert to true VR?

Ok that’s interesting thanks for ckarifying.

How do you find the pancake screen for on foot in your headset? I think it’s better than nothing (i.e. having to take the headset off) but would still obviously prefer full VR.

I tend to go in to camera mode to get VR on foot and revert to 2D only when I have to interact with something.

I rarely use ships for travel anymore. I've currently separated the two games and I am mostly onfoot at the moment. I believe the issue with distance and apex is that if they extended it to Colonia and beyond as a cmdr all you would need do to travel the width, depth and breadth of the galaxy is pay. It would greatly affect trips to Colonia, Sag A and Beagle Point as all you need to do is pay and then leave your machine turned on for the duration of the trip, you yourself can just come back a day or two later and you'll have arrived, no need to sit and watch or play anything.

Sod the Apex Adder. I want an Apex Orca and pay for first-class transport to Colonia.

Fixed routes would be a nice addition. You can't get a shuttle to Colonia, but at certain stations you can board an Orca and be taken to the next station in the passage way out to Colonia. You'd then have to board another to go to the next, but it gives you that nomad exploring vibe. Gives options for having mini bubbles expanding out from each of those stations as people move ships over and operate out of them.

I haven’t tested this, but can you allow other players to board your ship in EDO? Not multicrew, but from the hangar? And then theoretically could that ship then travel to a Colonia or anywhere and the guest player disembarks? I guess both the pilot and guest would need to stay online ingame the whole trip. What would happen if either of them disconnects mid journey?

Yes, you can jump into other people's ships. It's great until you high wake and then it's hit and miss if the passenger stays connected, because you know, FD.

The passenger will return to their last docking place if they are disconnected, so if you're going to do a colonia trip, you'd have to do it in one sitting, or at least make sure you dock before disconnecting.

I feel they should have an animation on disconnect of the pilot hitting the eject button and having you launched into space.
