Dark, blurry graphics - unplayable

Wow, I'm so disappointed!
I'm surprised with Frontier, that they would release this.

Not only is the DLC horribly clunky in many ways, but the graphical changes are a major step in the wrong direction.
The in-game text is so blurry that it gives me a headache, and there is nothing in the graphical settings I can do to correct it. It's so dark, with interface elements so bright. Just terrible.

I requested a refund on Steam - lets see if they'll grant it.
Here's a side-by-side screenshot of Horizons vs Odyssey inside the cockpit of my Sidewinder:

Your comparision shots are exactly what I'm seeing, right down to the formerly bright blue HUD elements now being a dull blue-green. I thought maybe I was going nuts or my display calibration got messed up. Thanks for posting those.

As far as the HUD goes, there is a HUD brightness option now. Mine was only set halfway and I didn't like it being that dark.

I also had to play with my gamma settings as well. The calibration seems a little off.

Not saying these are "fixes", but they helped me greatly.

I put my HUD brightness up and that's fine now. Still plenty issues with lighting but this is one thing that's solved for me.

You can see this is very evident on Donar's Oak right now. There's a lot of stuff that's missing and the contrast is completely out the window here.
Left is new, right is original. The brightness/contrast was balanced to my monitor, so with the same settings we can see the new lighting model is far too dark and it seems like all contrast is gone too.

Yeah, it puzzles me how they managed to screw this up so badly. Ignoring the overall "way too dark" problem (which is a massive problem), where did this go so wrong that these two colour elements no longer match? It's all just ugly now. :\ And yeah, did a full colour calibration as well. It's not us, it's them. This is how they designed it to look. Awful stars, awful contrast, awful colours. I really can't see myself continuing to support this game if it's going to look like this.

They changed the entire shader system, and then.... seemingly... haven't done much in the way of trying to make it fit the old system, the new system shouldn't be modifying this stuff, it should be allowing the artists to do cool stuff with the planet tech, not ruining previous artists work.
