Sorry if this has already been brought up but I may have a few solutions.
I love that this game encourages more detail and the creation of dark rides. Unfortunately, currently dark rides are only dark when it is night. It would be great if scenery items had a much more profound effect on sunlight; particularly inside custom buildings. This could place more emphasis on lighting and allow players to really take advantage of natural light with windows and artificial light with lamps and spotlights.
I understand that it can be very difficult to change the lighting engine so here are a few ideas:
1. Create a clear scenery item that could be phased into ceilings and walls that casts a shadow over everything below it's profile regardless of the sun's position.
2. Possibly add a property to scenery items that allows the player to adjust the weight or darkness of the shadow. This way trees and other outdoor objects won't cast extremely dark shadows and players could choose to be however realistic they want.
Other than that I am in love with the progress so far! You really have done the fans of Roller Coaster Tycoon a huge service. Keep on rocking it!
