It's horribly dark everywhere. Gamma does nothing. Sky is pitch black, inside is pitch black.
And before someone try to be smart, no, space is not black. Not even on Earth. It's a terrible misconception that stem from several factors. First, light pollution, people live in city and town, with light that dim the sky. Also, the moon. And finally, our thick atmosphere. So, what most people will ever see in their life is a black sky.
If you want to have a glimpse of space, go far away from any civilization, in a moonless night with clear sky.
This is what you'll see :
Luminosity is off for the ground due to using long exposure camera. But the sky isn't. That's what I saw as a kid, relatively far from any cities. This picture don't do it any justice, it's one of the most magnificent thing I ever saw, and I strongly advise anybody to do the trip and see it.
They are billions of stars up there. Billions of sun, some brighter than our own.
Now, before someone comment about the well known NASA black pictures of earth/moon, they are done with a specific camera that dim the star (google it), and also, the whole issue of light pollution is back, since you have a MASSIVE moon or Earth right in the middle.
