Dark side (no pun intended) of the planets?

Was it discussed how will be sides of planets that are currently not facing the system sun be illuminated? Will they go with realistic darkness SRV being only your light source or will they have the global illumination for whole planet, ignoring its rotational position? It is kind of funny how beta is around the corner and the final release around two corner, but there was only little official info drip feed.

It'll be dark so you need to use your lights and the scanner shows the surrounding land so you don't drive into a cliff.

From the horizons live streams it seems tidally locked planets will have a permanent dark side, the only lighting will be that from the main star.

They have talked about having multiple light sources if there are multiple suns but this has issues with shadows and graphics loads etc....

So for now the dark side will be just that.....dark.

You do have headlights though :)

This might be a bridge too far considering beta in a couple days but they should have something like FLIR or terrain mapping considering these are present day technologies.

There is a terrain map on the scanner.

Yep, from one of the videos here:

I don't see the "scaling" indicator like on the deep space scanner image, so I don't know if this is scaleable or not. It's definitely going to be needed on the dark side regardless! Just don't drive too fast...
