Engineers Dark side of the planets

Hey,

so does anyone know if there's a way to stop the dark side of the planets we land on, lighting up? I would prefer it to remain pitch black. From a distance it looks black but then once you approach it, it lightens up quite a bit. It doesn't feel like darkness anymore. I remember someone once mentioned something about some nvidia settings...

I would like to know, it happens to me too, though when landed it goes back to darkness. I think it has something to do with SLI.

Decrease the gamma in game settings, and increase the brightness of your HUD?
Wear sunglasses?
Or close your eyes maybe?

I am glad the canopy/helmet adaptive brightness also enhances your night vision at night...my mirrorless camera does it already and we are just in 2016!

Squint ....

To a point it does bug me .. However I know I would be utterly annoyed with it at the same time if it were pitch black. I mean imagine trying to land in total darkness, more importantly imagine the ****storm that would come down on the forum. I can see it now ... People threatening to quit ... People crying over how the game is unplayable and so on ... Basically like it is now, but for a different topic.

As it currently stands its an acceptable compromise.

Your right something is wrong with the lighting, It completely destroys the shadow effect on planets. it's been reported and I think dev are looking in to it. It has been said it's something to do with SLI but if you turn SLI off the problem remains.

Agree 100%.

Darkside of planet should be pitch black and the only things that can help are radar and shiplights.

It should and does stay dark if you're facing away from the galactic core or any nebulae. It's a basic implementation of image based lighting from the sky box. There will still be some ambient light but not much at all.

I recall driving on the dark side of a planet at Beagle point, facing away from the local star and away from the light of the core. It was pitch black and really atmospheric.

It is clearly a bug because it 'flashes'. Everything is dark until you get out of OC and in Glide mode, then it lights up as if a new light source just appeared, then it goes dark again. I'll play with my SLI settings tonight to see what happens. I won't have long anymore to deal with this SLI tomfoolery anyway, 1070 here I come.

The game is dark enough already. I like to see some stuff.

Use front lights. :)

But yeah, it is literally the main reason I don't land on planets anymore. It used to be almost completely black but now it feels like Minecraft bright mode where night looks like day. Same goes for planets behind planets. One planet covering the sun but is still enlighted. Not sure if this is still a think inm 2.1.

was thinking same subject but this one seemed to fit ED better.

Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don't be afraid to care.
Leave but don't leave me.
Look around and choose your own ground.

Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.

Run, rabbit run.
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one.

For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave

It seems to me that the visibility on dark sides of planets/moons should be part of your Ship/SRV HUD options. If all your HUD is a projection now, why wouldn't you have some type of projection for Night Vision. And then have that projected onto your canopy too? This might explain why it doesn't work in glide mode also. I would like it to be an option you can turn off. The few times I've found actual absolute dark on surfaces was very unique and enjoyable.

Well, I guess I'll just have to get used to it. Overall the game looks much better since 2.1 anyway. Super happy about it. It's a pleasure mining these days because of the gorgeous views. This was just one of those small annoyances.

Heyho,
did you noticed how the "Glass" of the cockpit works? It's not just glass, it's a high-end material that adjust the brightness right to human eyes. If it would not, you would get blind after the first Hyperjumpd by looking in the Star. And so does the screen do on dark side of planets. Just like our Nightview-gadgets. I won't have to land somewhere, where i can't see the bottom xD And......did you ever slept far away the Big City's on a open court? No lights from the city...just the stars over you (maybe the moon too). If you have NO artificially light around you, the Nights on earth are SOOO BRIGHT, you will never believe. Just as a small hint....
