I watched this last night after a session exploring the Elite galaxy.

This movie was so ahead of its time its staggering. Its about 4 guys on a bombing mission around the galaxy; yes the same type of bombing mission as Frontier: Elite II.

They have an alien on board - which went on to inspire Ridley Scott's Alien movie.

They parody 2001 a space oddysey, and star wars before it was even written

Its very dark but the humour is like Elite humour, and its very gripping.

They even have Super Cruise mode, and the lookout pod from Red Dwarf series 2.

Its all in there, in fact Elite resembled more Dark Star than it does Star Wars and Star Trek.

Even the ship looks like a fat Cobra.

I had a lot of respect for this title, check it out.

It is an excellent film.

As an allegory of the times it was also very funny, but it's quality is that, though those times have long past, it is still enjoyable.

Excellent geek fact one of the actors is Dan O'Bannon (Sgt Pinback) who later went on to write the screenplay for Alien.

I guess so, looking at it, and certainly the pilot on the Anaconda looks from where the observation pod is.
