Community Event / Creation DarkenSpace (dramatic ED series)

For anyone who has been waiting on this series to debut, it is probably going to arrive on YouTube at the end of next week (around Oct 9th). It is ready to go, except that my voiceover actor has gotten busy with other (better paying) acting jobs in the last few weeks so he won't have time to finish his last few pages of VO for the episode until then.

Edit: or ... maybe sooner! Charles caught a break in his other project and now I have gobs of new VO files for DarkenSpace to go through tomorrow. Episode 1 is probably going to handily beat the above date now, at least.

Awesome, Draven, I like it!

The graphics are superb! That is another reminder that I need to prepare to replace my old MacBook Pro. I'm nowhere getting the quality you have, although you might have post-processed the raw video footage you got.

I'm assuming there was someone else helping you with some shots? Like when you pull away from Dalton Gateway, we can see the little Sidewinder from quite a distance.

Almost no post-processing was used ... one or two shots I may have color-corrected to match the surrounding shots better if the lighting had changed, I did some obvious things with layers for a shot near the ending (no spoilers!), and of course the Galnet news report had to be mocked up in graphics software, but other than that it is pretty much how the game looks on my system.

No one else helped me with any shots on this one, either. As far as the ship leaving Dalton Gateway is concerned, are you sure it was actually me? :) Of course I meant for the viewer to come away with that impression by the way I framed it. Having said that, as a matter of fact I do now have someone who is planning to help me out on a few shots for future episodes, so that I can keep increasing the shot variety. (And it seems that I sold another copy of ED for Frontier in the process, hehe.)

I love your video because I can take a break from work and kinda get into the game since I can't play while at work, for obvious reasons. That's why I like it so much!

EDIT: and yes, you got me on that shot leaving Dalton Gateway. Never thought of that. I did one year in college in filmmaking, should have thought about it :/

Great episode! I loved it! Thought it was not long enough, though!

Can't give you any real rep so have some virtual one!

Haha! Not long enough, eh? At just under 26 minutes, it was more than three minutes longer than episode 1 ... I guess that means the pacing was more effective and as a result the time just flew by? :)

Thanks for the virtual rep! Here, have some of the virtual kind right back (for the same reason)!

What I forgot to add to my initial message is that one part that I like about your videos is the quality of the graphics. It shows how Frontier intended ED to look like. Unfortunately, my aging MacBook Pro from early 2011 cannot do justice to that quality while keeping a decent framerate, so I have to decrease the quality. But your video is top notch, it's good to look at. And I really like your choice for the voice of Draven. I don't know, I feel the actor has really the voice for that kind of guy. Excellent casting!

More like lucky casting. It sure was fortunate for me that Charles (the voice) happened to be the lead singer in a band I was in back around 25 years ago, and then later I was the first webmaster of his official website. :) It was actually his idea to get involved when he heard about what I was doing ... originally I was just going to voice Draven myself, but it wouldn't have been as good. (In fact I did voice the secondary character Arnaud Andre in this latest episode, but I figured I could get away with that one since we only hear him over a radio connection anyway).
