Darned last second interdictions!

I'll laugh about it in about 2 days time...

SOOO I finally find an asteroid with the deep core stuff and blow it up, load my little mining krait (Red Dwarf) up with the cheap stuff at 250,000 per ton and flying back an npc pirate takes a fancy to me.

AS my FSD countdown hits zero he starts interdicting me, leaving me unable to move, change throttle or do anything and he promptly blows me up.

At least im only mining for the engineer (though the cash would have been nice!

I was hoping the jump would have done a Han Solo on the git!

At present im not happy with the game there lol!

Anyone else had similar?

If he interdicted you, submit, pips to engines, flee, he won't be able to get back on your tail before you get to the station. Or, if he does, repeat the process.

Or try to evade - I can do it v NPCs in a T10, so it's possible.

I know that much but I couldn't do anything at all - I think the interdiction started as the keyboard freeze for hyperspace kicked in and my ship got confused...

At least the kids were out 😄

PS going all Bruce Willis on an asteroid is FUN!!

That hasn’t happened to me personally, but I think it’s worth using a mining build that can at least withstand a bit of punishment (enough to flee) – I would have thought that a modestly engineered Krait would be fine in most situations.

The main issue that I’ve experienced is game crashes or server blips mid-session and then finding myself miraculously surrounded by pirates when I log back in. I've been attack by pirates while mining in a Krait and a T-9, and never had much of an issue getting away. Is your Krait a very "light" build?

It has happened to me in the past ... quite a while back, so I had assumed this buggy experience had gone. You get trapped in the transition into Supercruise, but the surrounding game doesn't stop. Consequently, NPCs can still fire upon you.

It's an instance transition thing. Thankfully, pretty rare these days. I hope it's not coming back !

Hmm - I thought that your ship disappears in the moment the countdown starts? Because after this point no control reacts, and you are helpless. Could this be a bug?

For me jumps always override the interdiction if I fly in the correct direction. Sounds like it was bugged?

I've had a similar issue when escaping thargoid flowers. Sometimes their EMP field hits me during the fsd countdown and I enter supercruise with all my instruments dead. Menu logging seems to be the only way of bringing them back on.

OP clearly stated he was unable to react due to interdiction happened AFTER FSD countdown and BEFORE he managed to actually jump. That 5s time when you loose control of your ship while your game loads FSD gfx.

See this:

Easily explained with IF-THEN programming. Pirates "check" if you have cargo. IF cargo, THEN interdict. Freshly mined stuff isn't considered cargo so when you jump into mining spot and harvest some then even after scan you won't be attacked for your freshly mined stuff isn't flagged as cargo.

But change instance (FSD to another spot, relog, exit game and come back) and your freshly mined stuff is now re-flagged into cargo. And it's easy from now. IF cargo, THEN interdict.

So when you were mining and got DC, came back into game it essentially made new one and since you had cargo this time...

Bad timing I'd say. And faulty programming that allows interdiction while you're unable to react and counter it.

Yeah, IF intgerdiction starts BEFORE FSD countdown then yes - had it myself, even when actually fighting interdiction, FSD breaks it. But here was all around - FSD kicked in, 5s countdown started, OP lost control over his ship as it was entering SC. In that exact moment pirate decided to interdict. Sitting duck situation.

Cool, to be honest I made the rebuy back tonight with a couple of passenger missions and it was quite ironic that it happened after I nearly died to an asteroid 😄
