Newcomer / Intro Data delivery missions problem………

Hi all. Been away from Elite for ages, but have just returned, and am right at the beginning again. When choosing a data delivery mission nothing happens. The data doesn’t show as having downloaded, but the mission appears as an active mission. If I just assume it’s downloaded and proceed to the delivery destination, then there is no way to check the mission in as completed. No surprise really, as I’m pretty sure I don’t have the data. Any ideas as to what’s going on? I used to be able to run these data delivery missions without issue.

The data delivery missions are now the easiest ones around. Once you accept the mission, the data is downloaded automatically, but you won't see it anywhere (you should get a "mission accepted" notice). Once you get to the delivery station, just go into the mission board as normal, and over on the right side there should be a box (normally blue) that says "completed missions". Click on that box, and you'll see the completed missions. Click on the mission and it will give you the standard "rewards" screen to chose credits, etc as you reward.

Okay, thanks. I’ll give it another whirl. I could have sworn that the data appeared in the RH panel last time I did one. I must be going senile 🤪

It might have done, I am not a great doer of missions and while I have done data delivery I don’t recall looking for the data, but depending on how long ages are there will have been all sorts of changes.

It does appear in the LH panel. It just doesn’t allow me to complete it once at destination. No exclamation mark on the Mission button to denote a completed mission ready to be finalised or anything. I’ll have another bash in a bit.

Well, somewhat typically, all of the the Data missions have disappeared from the boards, so I cannot retry for the time being. Added to that, I made the daft mistake of wandering out of the starter area, and am now stuck between just a handful of systems that I can actually jump between. Nearly all of the missions are out of my jump range, or are crazy assassinations that are way beyond my capabilities. And trying to make money on the Commodities Market is almost impossible, lol. I’m down to about 6,000 right now.

I know there are loads of “Get rich quick” guides on Youtube etc, but I’ll get far more satisfaction if I can just manage to extricate myself from the mire. I’ve had to come away for a bit so I can attack it with renewed vigour later on. Thanks for your input each and all 🙂

If you need credits, fit a kill warrant scanner, go to a res zone, follow the system authority vessels around, and when you see them attack a ship wait until it's half dead and then get a few shots in until it's dead. You'll rack up the credits quickly.
