Come on, folks... let us upgrade their range a bit, either by using higher rated sensors with more range, or engineered sensor range, or both. It would be a nice quality of life all around to not HAVE to be almost touching something just to scan it. People would still have to balance mass of their sensors for exploration ships and such, but it would be a very nice option to have.
Data Link/Comp Scanner range should be proportional to Sensor range/grade
