data misions and new ship

I know if one has a passenger they can not buy or switch ships, if one has cargo, and the new ship contains a cargo bin the same size, one can buy or switch ships. Does anyone know if one has one or more data missions which are not considered to be either passenger or cargo, can they buy or switch to a new or different ship?

Yes, if you have room in the ship you want to switch to for any cargo in your existing ship, then you should be able to do it. I haven't actually tried this with mission specific cargo, but certainly it works for standard commodities, so it should.

Limpits will also transfer now.

Data delivery missions will allow you to switch ships.

Great, before I head out to Colonia in a Diamond Back Explorer I bought for just that purpose. I'm going to go shopping for any and all the data missions I've seen since the new update. Might as well make the trip worth while, right. Besides, doing that will off set the cost of shipping my Vette, once I get there. Realizing there is no good place to buy mods there, I placing a lot of mods I may or may not, depending. In storage, which can hold up to 60 items or more if one groups them. Then if I should want one, and it's not available there, just have it shipped from my storage. No fuss, no bother, no need to even spend time shopping for them there. I've included everything I could possibly want or use based on my style of play for both my Vette and Python. And still have plenty of room left over.

I've completly rebuit it for no other purpose but the fastest most jump range I can get with out any engineering for the trip there. Once I get there, I'll have my ships shipped and sell the DBX. Yes, I could get a slightly better range using a Conda, but because one takes a bigger hit selling a conda vs a DBX, the additonal cost and lower speed doesn't warrent it. Like any and all good business men (genericaly speaking), the DBX is a more prudent investment for my purpose. I pay attention to the bottom line.

Smart move. I've seen data delivery to Colonia at almost every station - usually in multiple and always for plenty of cheddar.

How well do they stack? Do they become scarce when you have a bunch already? Starport Services will probably have a meltdown when you arrive in Colonia.

DBX is a good choice - what's your range?

The maximum number of data courier missions you can have active at the same time is limited to either 16 or 20, I'm thinking 20 but I might be misremembering. Once you have that number accepted, you can't accept any more but they still appear on the mission boards.

41.6 took me a hour and a half using eddb to come up with the build. I got a conda up to 46.1. But like I said, the resell will cost almost a dozen times more than the DBX cost to purchase and it's considerably slower, which transtlated to the trip taking longer. I learned years ago when I had investment in the trucking industry, that there are fast routes and short routes and generally there not the same. An example might be. One can j walk while crossing a street, thus it's a shorter trip. But if one gets a ticket, one has to either pay it, which means added expensive or take the time to fight in court. Which even if you win, you still loose becasue of the time you had to invest by going to court. Add that time to the duration of time to cross the street when you j walked. Makes going to the corner and doing it leagle a lot faster.

Nice range. Don't leave home without an ADS :p

I've got a route all planed out which will take me to various stations every 3 to 4 hours of play. Using the plotting system and only following the path I've laid out and not doing any exploring. I don't need an ADS. The few extra cr's I may get vs the decrease in range doesn't warrent haing one. I'm only interested in getting there as quickly as possible. So, I won't even bother to honk. Because the vector always seems to be on the other side of the star, I'll simply scoop thus keeping my tank full upon every drop from hyper in route to a clear view of vestor, engage fsd and go again. Rounding down, 22,000 divided by 40 works out to be 550 jumps. Rounding up, it takes 1 minute to compete a jump, thus 550 minutes works out to be just over 9 straight hour of non stop jumping.

I'm a bit crazy but not insane, I'll do it over the course of three days. Which works out to be only a bit over three hours a day, Considering breaks, because I can't sit there for that long, I have a sever case of Restless Leg Syndrom. I'll double that which make an average of 6 hours a day. That I can handle.

Been planning it for awhile, waiting on the new range potting increase. And killed a lot of time some what sucesfull working on my fed and empire naval ranking. Gonna spend some time now shopping for data mission that are always one way trips to Colonia. Nowing it will take me three days, and depending on how long the various missions give me to do them. based on the shortest on will determine exactly when I need to leave as not to be late.

Knowing there are no really good reliable services there, I bringing my own hooker, although she's a halogram, at my age it will do. LOL

You can honk while you scoop, it doesn't add any time then. That's how I do it when I want to get somewhere in a hurry with less than 1 minute between jumps.

I agree, take an ADS. The .1 Ly decrease in jump range will be offset by the millions you will accrue just by honking while fuel scooping :)
