There are quite a few NGC objects in game, but maybe not quite what you're expecting.
For example, NGC 7822 (Sharpless 171) is in there. It's a corridor of bright blue O and B stars in a nebula and can be spotted from thousands of light years away.
NGC 6231 is an open star cluster in Scorpio and has 32 stars that relate directly to "real world" data.
What I do is think of somewhere I would like to go, then do a search on Google for alternate names or designations for the same object.
eg. NGC 6960 is the Western Veil Nebula. Searching for either in Galaxy Map in-game should target the area.
Another thing I do is get the NGC catalogue number, then run it through SIMBAD (an online database of astronomical data).
Do a search for
NGC 6913 SIMBAD and the first link will be the page you're after.
Look down the page and you will see a section called "Identifiers" which shows the alternate catalogue numbers or names for the object. NGC 6913 is also M29.
In the example I gave you, there is a button called "Children" with 17. Click it.
You now have a list of all the stars in NGC 6913/M29.
Try typing the name of each star into Galaxy Map, and I'll bet you get a hit for some if not all of them.
Not all clusters are as easy, and not all clusters are included. There's enough to get on with for quite a while for amateur astronomers like you and I.
Who knows, you might visit some systems that haven't been visited before and become the First Discoverer for them.
