Dataminded Wake Exceptions!!!!?????

The two past days i have scanned close to a hundred wakes in at least 7 different systems.

Not. One. Single. Dataminded. Wake. Exception.

Ive checked guides, gone to locations, done this, done that...

And i HAVE collected them before!? From the same locations!!!

I must be doing something wrong but i cant figure out what!? :) Im using a wake scanner on "High energy wakes" as described to get DWE's.
No result. In 2 days. 100 scans ish. Smh. Getting frustrated.

**Not to keen on starting up ED today to be honest.** (Just started up Elite.) Im upgrading as you can understand and if im not getting the resources by doing what i (think I) am supposed to do, its not that fun. Its that simple. (And ive done it before so not only am i frustrated, i am confused.)

**Small Rant**

And while im at it! We only have 500 data storage!? This is actually a direct insult to our time imho. Everytime it gets full i have get rid of materials that i probably later have to go and collect AGAIN! Seriously, think about it... how much time and resources are WASTED just cause you gotta make room.
In almost ALL other games in existance where you collect stuff, you can usually expand on that storage somehow but not in Elite and its REALLY starting to bug me everytime i gotta vent something.

Ok im done.

Edit: I love you people! <3 :)

Here's what I do when I need these annoying things :

- grab a small, fast Ship with 0A (4km Range) Wake Scanner
- hug a high-population Ocellus or Orbis Station
- do the scan-mania and hope that RNGods of Holy Cambridge have mercy on me
- rinse & repeat until
a) you either have enough Datamined Grind Exceptions or
b) your body shows signs of decay or impending Grind-related failure (blood running from nose/ears, brain cell aneurysms or uncontrolled severe foul language thrown in the general direction of your Display)

PS.
Recently got me 15 within a few hours of brain-destroying, mindless Wake Scanning. You have my sympathy...

^^^ This ! Mind the T-9s on your way in  You can pick a position where the sidewinders high wake in front of you and just keep pressing the scan button until (RNG permitting) you have enough :) No need to keep moving from wake to wake that way.

Edit For the Record .... it is Famine Systems that have Distribution Centers

Search for Famine systems in the Galaxy Map then go to them looking for a Distribution Centre in the Navigation panel. Not all systems will have one. Go to it and there will be lots of Sidewinders picking up supplies from transports then high waking out. They all depart in the same area of space so just park there, let them come to you and scan their wakes. There will be 3-4 ships about every 10-15 seconds. Scan a lot just like a normal station but with so many ships departing the process is sped up immensely. Thus one can get 30-40 Datamined Wake Exceptions in an hour. Regards.

Just spent 4 hours "playing" to get the manipulators and datamined wakes (got 1 of each, enough for 3 rolls).
Had an average roll with the first but thought, no surely one of the other 2 will be better...........
Right off to the Nav point again!

Wow you're doing something wrong or very unlucky! I normally get these within 5-6 scans at Garay Terminal near to Farseer.

Normally takes me less than half an hour to get 3 to 6 of them when I want to boost FSD range.

You have Excel? I finally finished my engineering spreadsheet, and it's able to recommend how much of a material to keep. Every now and then I update it with what I've got and run through to see what I can safely throw away.

Not saying you're not right to be frustrated, just offering to help you avoid throwing away stuff you need. I was so mad when I discovered I was wrong to ever throw away an Exquisite Focus Crystal. Thought I was drowning in them: turned out I needed even more.

Played with my friends tonight and we were at Maia, i saw the traffic there and one of my mates got up to 12 DWE's in a very short amount of time actually hes drop was awesome tonight all over the place... i spent 30 minutes more than him and got a total of one scan that provided 3. :O
(Im crying a little on the inside but its good.) I WILL get more tomorrow and if i get the time i will seek out methods mentioned by the good folks in Elite!

Thank you all for the replies! Good stuff.

I just do some NPC piracy when I need these. I've found datamined wake exceptions are more common from named wakes. Since I scan NPC wakes to follow them to unpopulated space, this data just accumulates I got 15 from my last Diamond Heist session, which lasted about 3 hours.
