Description
Flying through the distribution center in Hesa and scanning wakes for around 30mins. In that time I have 73 atypical disrupted wake echos and 3 datamined wake exceptions.
I don't know if it makes a difference but I am using a d grade wake scanner with a g5 fast scan mod.
Also a lot of the wakes produce no results.

Steps to Reproduce
Scan wake. Get naff all apart from basic data or dud wake with no data.

It's no bug I believe, just the rng. Last week I tried twice for dwe's for maybe 30 min both times, 3rd day was a charm, 7 drops. Then went looking for uss, hit 2 private beacons, 3 more dropped.
Your guess is as good as any.

in 30 mins I had 3 data mined wakes 100 common and 70 of the next of the one up, 30 of the one after that and THREE DMWE.
Needs a balance pass. I'm certain it never took me this long in live...

I got a handful outside of a station in beta 1. They are very rare in live though too.

Could do with a small buff ;)

Probably just unlucky with the RNG.

I once spent 30 minutes frantically scanning wakes and got nothing (I wanted).
Then later on a scanned 3 wakes in a row with DWEs. Lol

RNGesus just likes to troll us.

Adding a wake scanner to your favourite CG cargo ships can reduce the monotony...

Because I found exclusively collecting these in a Famine system a bit tedious (due to low drop rate) I added wake scanners to most of my non-combat ships. On leaving any station, outpost or surface base I now have the equipment to quickly run around and scan all the wakes already in the area before continuing my journey.

No, this doesn't improve the drop rate but it does break up the monotony of both exclusively hunting this "Encoded" material and repetitive A-B-A cargo runs / missions eg Community Goals.

the drop rate was a lot higher in 2.3; could get 50 datamined wake exceptions in 4 hours.
these days you're lucky to get 10 - sounds to me like one of those bug fixes that got lost.

Aditionally> is it really necessary to fly the tourist ships 10-20km away from the tourist beacons before they highwake?

There's no station to mass lock them, just have them highwake from the beacon :)

I hate getting those..... worst part of all the engineering. I got all my ship to level 5 back in December. I cannot be bothered looking for these to gain that 1.2 percent optimiser for fSD

Annoyingly I have drop down to level 4, and use x of these dam things to them to get back to where I am now,,... no thanks

Can the data trade people supply them.?

Just finding this out today as had a good stockpile from when they used to drop. At distribution centre and so far I've had one drop in 60 mins. [cry]

I'm pretty sure that this would be on par with finding polonium and other rare 5's. Perhaps an A Rated scanner would increase the % a little?

On one day I had one drop immediately. Then a few days after, when hinging aboot a well populated station scanning wakes I had NONE for 45 minutes and I promptly gave up, which was annoying given that my Engineered G5 drive upgrade looks like it is about 99% completed even though it has sooked up umpteen datamind wakes, to improve by about a hairs breadth - yet another frikin annoyance..

I usually find, when I need, outside a Coriolis orbital base in boom and none system. I usually look for then where my ship are stored and when that system ( imperial but maybe is the same for federal I don't know ) is in boom state or none state I found pretty often. I could hazard a 10-15% of total waked scans, approx . How all rare material, find is an adventure :D
