Datamined wake exceptions in Colonia?

Anyone have a clue the best way to collect these annoying things over Colonia way.
I have an explorer out that way just now and was hoping to upgrade the FSD currently 64Ly.

I knew about the famine state systems and going over to distribution centers, scanning the wakes of all those ships coming over there to pick up relief packages. I am not sure if you're going to find that over there, but you could also try and park yourself out of the mail slot of a station, a few clicks away and keep scanning.

My trick was to go to Colonial Dream in Ratraii and hack the the ports with limpets. It's actually more efficient than the Jameson crash site for mats. Exegious made a good tutorial. Farm the mats and trade them at the local dealer (forgot where he's at. but there are dealers for all mats in the Colonia region). I used Hackable 0 for the best orientation towards the main signal of the station using the reload trick.
With 99% certainty these mats will drop from Colonial Dreams:
Grade 1

Anomalous bulk scan data

Distorded shield cycle recordings

Unusual encrypted files

Grade 2

Inconsistent Shield soak analysis

Tagged Encryption codes

Unidentified Scan Archives

Grade 3

Classified Scan Databanks

Cracked Industrial Firmware

Open Symmetric Keys

Untipical Shield Scans

Grade 4

Aberrant Shield Pattern Analysis

Divergent Scan Data

Security Firmware Patch

Grade 5

Classified Scan Fragment

Modified Embedded Firmware

Peculiar Shield Frequency

Did some scanning at Jacques and that worked fine, so picked up the module. Just need 100k bounty vouchers to unlock Mel Brandon to get that mass manager on.

i mean it's basically like that. the DWEs dont spawn more in specific places.

"scan all the wakes" or collect other data and trade it in.

This is one of those things that I used to give people grief on but stopped. That is about the worst mat gathering task there is. With just a touch of creativity it could be kinda interesting:

Follow this outlaw's trail and report who he meets with and where they leave to. You'll need a stealthy ship and good sensors to stay back and observe the meet.

The wake scans you do naturally then provide mats and the mission gives some extra G5's. Other variations, some leading to combat or frenzied escape could be done.

But nope. Just sit outside a station and scan wakes without purpose beyond RNG drops. Enjoy the randomness of it all as sometimes this incredibly boring process yields nothing 4 or 5 scans in a row. This and guardian mats have got to be my least favorite aspects of gameplay. I just see no real 'just play the game' way to get them outside onsie twosie trades from scanning in CZs and HazRez. Gahhhh.

I asume you mean at the Industrial Installation near the Colonia Dream Coriolis?

I think so yes. It was a huge installation. I'm not 100% sure because I'm back at the bubble now. Sorry I mixed it up. But when you see it you'll know what I mean.

Agreed. It's easy enough to fill them up in a few weeks by fitting a wake scanner and remembering to scan whatever's around when you undock (surface bases are particularly reliable for this) ... it's not particularly difficult to incorporate into a normal routine ... but there's basically no actual gameplay that'd let you collect them, because the wake scanner is virtually useless in itself outside of really specialist tasks (and utility slots are in short supply on most ships, so no-one would fit one if it wasn't for this).

All the other data types will either show up naturally by scanning ships in supercruise/normal space while doing whatever it is you do, or are easily obtained as a by-product of various surface missions.

I have been there now and it fits your description so it must be it. Thank you for the tip.
