Dates and Times for Events in Elite: Dangerous

Okay... so with player driven news now finding its way into GalNet, figuring out what day of the week it is in the game is becoming an issue.
For instance... today news story showed up in GalNet talking about a "fight club" that meets weekly at 0500 universal time. That's great! Only problem is that the news story mentions nothing about what DAY at 0500 the fight club meets. So do I show up at 0500 every day until someone else shows up?
Another example of a problem: The Demolition Derby in Slough. The article says that they'll meet on the first Sunday of every month but doesn't give me a time. Do I hang out all day? Worse is that the first Sunday of the month is different in the year 3301 then it is in 2015. So WHICH Sunday? Real world Sunday or in-game Sunday? GalNet is an in-game publication so if you want to go all "immersive" then it should have met on February 6th (Friday on the 2015 calendar).
The problem gets worse next year. 2016 is a leap-year but 3302 is not a leap year. Honestly I'm surprised that FDev didn't pick a Calendar year for the future that more closely matched the days of the week (down to the leap-year) for 2015. The year 3299 at least has the same dates/days of the week but still has the leap-year problem. The year 3311 has the right days of the week AND 3312 is a leap-year.
Problem solved. We're still early into the game release. Move the game ten years to the year 3311 and just change all the past dates to reflect this. FDev could send a notice in the Elite: Dangerous newsletter explaining the need for the change. Otherwise we've got to figure out what happened in the past to shift the Calendar.
