Just seen this on the mission board

Assassinate Pirate Lord Dave Lister

Can't remember which system it was but there was a Dave Lister of the TV series Red Dwarf, made me chuckle when I saw it

I wonder what is used to create the NPC names. At one point, I noticed that Scott Manley encountered "Vern Fonk" as an NPC at one point in his streams. The guy was well known in my area for his insurance ads on local TV.

Yeah, I'm just surprised a name that was really only well known in a small corner of the US would wind up inside the name database of a UK game company.

Dave Lister or Duane Dibbley though? I'd be more surprised if it wasn't.

The community came up with most of the names, so it may well have been an american, plus family guy is shown in the UK and probably everywhere else so it could have just as easily been a UK guy

During the Kickstarter one of the pledge bonuses was you get to name an NPC pilot to appear in game. Naturally this means Lister, Farnsworth, and many, MANY other names will be instantly recogniseable.

I think it still counts as an easter egg though. Keep listing them off, I'm interested to hear what people see o7

Heh, I saw a mission the other night for The Pirate Lord Dent Arthur Dent. Soon to be The Late Dent Arthur Dent.

I had two pirates named Dovahkiin and GunBuster trying to interdict me on two different systems when I was doing a trade run. There's tons of references in the game(which is fine by me).
