I'll just leave it here:

NO NO NO ....

I'm not even going to say what I think about Jobs as it would be disrespectful of the dead, but in no way is DB anything like him, thank god.

So you must be that objective nemesis critic every hero needs? I haven't seen lot of praise for David every day, so sometimes that just needs to be said. You can of course disagree.

I actually suspect the rest of the team, who are working solely on ED, are coming up with most of the ideas and design decisions. DB is a bit of a jack of all trades now, seeing as he's running the show. I'm sure he keeps his hand in, but I reckon the Sandros and the Mikes and the Michaels (and the others - I don't mean to miss them out but they don't post here as much so I can't remember their names :p ) are actually contributing much more "essence" to the game than DB. Again, I'm not dissing him - his job is just mainly something else now... so it does seem a little bit sycophantic when people keep putting him up on a pedestal to worship. It's like worshipping Jobs and ignoring Woz, to keep with the topic of the thread. ;)

Wow baskila, please don't derange this thread even further, we can guess your preferences here ;)

There is a fine distinction between not liking someone and acknowledging someone's achievements.

Even if I do not like how Mr. Jobs behaved on a personal level one can not ignore the fact that he built a global enterprise out of a garage company and was able to stand up against something like Microsoft years on end.

And still, even if Elite Dangerous is quite a nice game, you just can't compare the two people. They are both star systems apart in what they do/did, who they are/were and what they have achieved.

He wasn't. Microsoft was very interested in survival of Apple as sole competition (when in fact it didn't compete for same market place) to get Department of Justice off their case, because Microsoft without sweat destroyed any competition it had during nineties and early 21th century...with not so legal methods. They invested 200M in cash when Apple was grasping at straws, and developed Microsoft Office for Mac platform at their own expense, even knowing they won't get money back.

And still, even if Elite Dangerous is quite a nice game, you just can't compare the two people. They are both star systems apart in what they do/did, who they are/were and what they have achieved.

As human beings I can compare them at level do I like such behavior or not. I don't like Steve. I was long time torn about this, but more I learn about his actual characteristics (not PR soup we were given for last years he was alive), more I see that anything I despise in Apple in last years came from him actually. There's really no competition.

Strange comparison, and one I don't really agree with. Jobs was a ruthless (salesman) and a bit of a nasty customer if the stories are true. While Mr.Braben is the CEO of FD he hasn't had the cultural impact on the world that Apple have some how managed.

Yea I wouldn't call David Braben Steve Jobs. It's just insulting.
It really saddens me to see how easy media created a false picture of Jobs. Even worse is to see how many people believed that.

OK guys and gals - I think we get the gist of this thread. It's going to be the same thing repeated so it's getting closed. Not any one persons fault but it's not productive.
