I had no idea that the original Elite was given the green light by Acornsoft! I used to much malign the fact that my parents had got me an Acorn Electron instead of a Commodore 64 (I collected an untold amount of stick at school for the ownership of that little machine) - but it appears that were it not for Acorn, then perhaps Elite itself would never have seen the light of day!

So all is forgiven, little Acorn Electron. :D

(By the way - they had bought a Commodore 64, but returned it for the Electron on the advice of... our Headmaster. Ahahahahahaha - when I found out about that one, I was not a happy little bunny. ;) Turns out that large box on the wardrobe was actually the Commodore, not what they said it was - can't remember that far back! )

Didn't you see the UK doco on the brits that changed the world - the worlds first 3d computer game

Search for it on youtube..... they covered all that in there.

Part 2 of the interview was good.

Was intrigued by the concept art photo that accompanied the 2nd part of the interview. Looks very atmospheric, almost blade runner'esque (is that a word - ed). Does this imply player avatars will be part of the game? It certainly gave that impression to me.

The second half of the interview is here. It appears beside the first half but never hurts to make sure people get to see it.

I liked it, it was really good for the Elite Kickstarter for Chris to join in and for his fans to hear the conversation between the two. Gary was good and asked the important questions and David made some valid points especially that last one about excluded gamers.

We have to find a way to reach them, the old single player crowd who may not have dived into multiplayer and might even find it too intimidating. I know it took me years to pluck up courage. I feel they need to be reassured that their single player experience still awaits them in Elite Dangerous, while fans of multiplayer need to know how far they can take that.

So, a lot of Chris' funding came from his own site: perhaps there's a lesson in there for Frontier? How much did Chris actually get from Kickstarter alone?
