David Braben and Offline Mode -> Make MODDED mode instead.

I am 100% completely convinced that the modding community can provide much much much much much much much much better game features than the entire Frontier team can and in considerable less time.

You still get the money. And you let us fix all this crap for you while we are paying you.

Huge problem with mods , most important of which and the main reason it won't happen is resources. Bethesda one of the most famous software houses for making mods available employ a department who's only role is to support and create modding tools. Frontier just don't have the resources to have that. For example Bethesda have people still working on supporting mods for Skyrim even though Fallout 4 is now a year old. No way can Frontier afford to have this situation.

Then there's the chaos that would ensue given that pvp could happen with one Cmdr using a mod designed purely for him/her. Over 80% of mods in the Bethesda and other games that support mods are designed to "cheat" , unlimited ammo mods for example, or unkillable players. You could find yourself up against a player with impenetrable shields.

So any hope of mods will have to be linked to an Offline mode, you couldn't have mods in Open, I think David Braben did say mods was a "nice to have" but he meant way in the future when hopefully his support and development team is much bigger

its all about control of course script kiddies would wipe the floor clean................................
I like the intervention of programmers bit
"COBRA is our proprietary game development technology platform and has undergone continual development since 1988. It allows us to deliver industry-leading gameplay innovations and take advantage of efficient multi-platform development.

COBRA also has a sophisticated framework that enables rapid development of powerful tools. These tools offer the ability for all those on the development team including artists, animators, sound designers, musicians, modellers and producers to view, tweak and review changes to the resources of all types in-game on the target device, in a live game session that is running on that platform, without the intervention of a programmer. Such iteration is one of the keys to developing high quality games. "

Look at Arma 3 and the mod system there. They werent afraid of letting the community have at it and make their job easier. Those guys have an even smaller team if you ask me. But hey, I know it's not going to happen. Control.. it is all about their vision of the game... thats why instead we get Engineers.

I get it that Mr Braben and Co would like to be in charge regarding the game.

They are control freaks (not trying to hurt people, they are great at what they do of course).

Allow the community to provide the tools and the mods to see what happens.
All we need is a Solo mode with the ability to install mods.
