I honestly didn't consider the possibility of them being shot when asking it.
It's not like you'd get away with it, we all know it's not a good idea to annoy the space stations.
Unless thye add in a feature to press 'F' when adjacent to a ship to steal it and kick out the pilot; it's not in much danger of becoming GTA (or rather Grand Theft Spaceship) in space.

Station killing the offender instantly. No respawn at this station for x days.

Those mechanics have friends. Friends that work at the repair department of the station. You don't want people repairing your FSD be angry at you. Guess what will happen if you kill one of their friends?
Repair and fuel cost increased by 1000% and a 50% chance that some subsystem of the next ship of the offender has a serious malfunction in the worst possible situation.
Do it twice and every mechanic in the galaxy will hate you. So 75% chance of malfunction and a constant stream of insults while around a station. And if you die the last thing you will hear is a "HaHa".
And just remember Spaceflight One. Somebody made a mechanic really angry
Oh and the wive/husband of the mechanic probably works for the commodity market. Sorry no rares. "I'm sooo sorry, the price for that cargo you want to sell just dropped to the floor. You want to buy that stuff, now see that just got really expensive."
Or, even worse, they work for the insurance company. "Sorry CMDR I can't find the insurance you claim to have in my system. I just checked it, no, I'm really sorry there is nothing I can do for you, your ship wasn't insured."
