I’m not a religious man. However, the idea that everything we perceive and know to be the universe is actually just a phenomenally complex artificial simulation by some external entity is at least credible. If that were so and the universe as we know it was procedurally created by some advanced entity, what would really be the difference between that entity and God?
Indeed, if ED ran for many decades and if in those years to come ED ever had access such powerful computing that its NPCs achieved a level of sentience, then what would Braben be to them if not a God, and his Dev team the angels?

IMHO the Chuck Norris meme was always intended to laugh at Chuck!

Whereas this thread - unless I miss my guess - was intended to poke fun at our veneration of the great Braben - not the man himself.

That's how I'm playing it anyway!

David Braben programs in pure machine code by tapping on the legs of microprocessors. He doesn't need to annotate his work. The function of each and every routine is so beautiful in its simplicity that even a layperson can understand its purpose.
