David Braben's Bafta talk

Anyone who attended able to comment on David's talk at the Baftas? There's been lots of alpha 3.0 reporting, but I've not seen any info on his talk. Any reports, any pictures, any interesting quotes?

Anyone know if a video will be released?

Edit: The Lave Radio guys have kindly provided a recording of his talk, and an exclusive interview with David! http://laveradio.com/

The Lave radio team were there at DB's talk, can't say when the recording will be aired.. there's editing to do and some one's got to do it.. I presume free of charge when they're not busy doing other things.

I asked about griefing.. can't remember verbatum what DB said but basically he implied that greifers would get what they want (deserve) ! A place for them to grief against each other and if one was spotted in a nice game then one shot from the galactic police would sort them out.
There will be opportunities for folk to help out other players - a la Samaritan.
He said he thought the ship landing (in station) may be a bit difficult but would see how it goes.. Some ships will barely - 'only just' fit through the entrance to some stations !!
DB would prefer the Oculous Rift to have a higher resolution, but noted that 10% of Alpha testers are using it (-:

That's as much as I'm prepared to try and remember, there's loads more & the recording will tidy up any mis heard errors.
I took some photos of the talk - plusmore see them here:

and there's more from other folk here too;

the press guy with the pork pie hat and trench coat fell in the river by the pirate ship, he had a nice camera:D

Ahem...I do :)

Well, I play Fifa on occassion but that's it..

Really you only play the game in the Rift and have never experienced it in proper high resolution on a monitor? I can't imagine that, even with the consumer version. I keep my Rift in its box with each piece still in its wrapper. I probably use the rift about one day on any given week I've been able to play the Alpha.

Also, I can't imagine being able to play the game easily without having first tried it in the monitor. For example the load-out screens on Alpha 2 are virtually unreadable in rift mode so you need to know what they are first.

Oh no I have tried ED full res dont get me wrong, and Ive gotten used to what all the controls do etc, but its still just like looking at pretty pictures on a 2D screen compared to experiencing the game lo res as it is, all around you (purposely avoiding the i word there ;) ) and its a waste of my limited gaming time per evening experiencing it without the rift on.

However I havent played ED in a while as the multiplayer doesnt work for me. These days I spend the 90 minutes or so I get an evening before the missus gets home on iRacing, and yes with the rift on only :) Such an incredible experience! I highly recommend you download and try it.

This will hopefully change this week at some point though, Im very much looking forward to some space station docking!

I did ask David a question about how far they think they can go with procedural generation, like in Kinectimals they had individual blades of grass. To which his abbreviated answer was "There is no reason would couldn't" ;)

*shudder*
You know that grass was hand placed down to the individual blade? I'm having flashbacks now.
