Newcomer / Intro Day 2. I feel like I should be getting attacked... but I'm not. Am I doing this right? Am I valuing things right?

Running a stripped down Python for trading, 288t cargo, no shields, no weapons, no defensive anything. A class frame drive, everything else has been fiddled with for lower tonnage, even swapped the fuel tank down to 4t.

I found a bunch of 1 jump trade routes that pay out at around 13.3 million per loop and don't have price changes, a loop takes 8 minutes so 1.66 mil per min, half the time I have a cargo hold worth 14 million. (I am also super lazy, in game for 2min out of the 8min, instead using auto docking and super cruise assist while alt-tabbing.)

Okay. Onto my questions:
1.) Shouldn't there be a pirate player out to kill me? just parked waiting for me and everyone else doing the same trade route? Anyone with a ship, a gun, and a pulse, could kill me. A new player would cash in on me.
2.) Is 14mil total, or 48k per ton, not that valuable to anyone?
3.) is 1.66 mil per minute (100/hr) a bad income rate for day 2? If so what pays more?

These 3 are my main newbie questions, I have also packed what I assume is standard griping into question 4.

4.) Why does the bookmark system and nav panel suck so hard? why don't I have a super cruise assist button when target locked and aimed at my destination? why do I have to boost / throttle towards a station I just arrived at, tab away from my viewscreen, navigate to the station through a menu of targets i'm not targeting and select it when I'm already targeting it, and then wait till i'm within 7.5km, just to press "request docking"? (cause I still have to ACTUALLY dock) Why the things? WHYYYY?

1) No. An NPC, possibly. But the amount of true player pirates is low, and the newbie killers tend to concentrate at barrels with a lot of fish
2) Not really. That's basically Tritium at high sell. Try Low Temperature Diamonds (LTDs) or Void Opals at 600k...1.6 MCr./ton (although those can only be mined or pirated, possibly bought from carriers)
3) If you play for income, yes. Mining pays better. If you play because you enjoy the game, it's up to you.
4) Because.
a) be glad you have bookmarks at all. At the start, we had to buy Sidewinders and leave them in interesting systems as bookmarks 😁
b) what is Supercruise Assist? Remember, this is a spaceship flying game.
c) did I mention that this was a spaceship flying game? Oh, and you neither have to boost nor throttle towards the station. If you fly without SCA, you'll have your throttle at 75% when exiting SC at the station. Since you didn't use SCA, you were able to align with the station entrance in SC and drop out of SC in front of the entrance at ~8..9 km distance, with the throttle at the top of the blue. Open your left panel, tab twice to the contacts tab (the highlight will already be at the station), again once to the right so the highlight is on "request docking", glance at the target display to check the distance, then hit confirm/space bar/A/whatever to send off the docking request. So simple that it can be done by a script that you can trigger e.g. through a voice command (see Voice Attack).

No , I've played in unarmed and low shielded ships for year without a problem

1. The bookmark and nav panel "suck" because you have not mastered it, my young Jedi. Once you do master it you will find that all the pertinent data and options available to be of extreme value.
2. There is a supercruise assist button available when you have a destination selected. Theres also a way to engage supercruise when you have no destination selected. For those I refer to to answer 1. (learn how to use the nav panel)
