Simple yet effective idea in my own humble opinion.
I'm someone who has to (constantly) combat and deal with changing sleep cycles, and have learned (the hard way) that you NEED to (ab)use the effects of blue and red light.
For example, i have a strip of LED's that are either blue/red depending on if i'm supposed to be awake or sleepy.
(combined with f.lux but that doens't aply to my idea tho..)
After a little thinking it occurred to me that my pilot has been exploring in deep space for days/weeks now, and his day/night cycle had to be absolutely Destroyed
If he wasn't using some tricks to keep it under control, he'd be risking some serious mental issues.
for the Lore buffs: i don't care how many hundreds years ahead we are, please concider how deep rooted this issue is into your body, that's not something "a little gene editing" can fix. :|
I'll cut to the chase: my idea was to include some LED's or elements in the cockpits of ships that you can set to "daytime" or "nighttime"
Just something to give the screen/cockpit a feeling of blue/red - ness during the parts of the day where you feel it required.
