this week, I took a daytrip to the bottom of the galaxy...
leaving my home system, I went pretty much directly downwards for around 1500ly, using "quickest route"
wandered around a bit, looking at untagged systems.
saw a few weird & cool things; including an Earth-like, a half dozen ammonia worlds, at least 20 waterworlds and a load of terraforming candidates
I find the bottom & top of the galaxy is a good place for a quick but profitable exploration venture
going straight UP or DOWN and avoiding the obvious destinations - nebulas, the core, famous stars, etc.
hardly any T-Tauri or clas L / Y brown dwarves etc.
but LOTS of G, F, K's old enough for decent planets - hit rate on terraformable / life-bearing worlds here seems much higher than usual
and weirdly, just 1200ly out there aren't many tagged systems, plenty of "first discovery" bonuses to be had
you do need a ship with a decent jump range as after 1500ly it starts getting sparser - even on economical routes you can be jumping 25ly between stars
....then headed back up and sold my data. 7m credits all in, probably 8 hours flying time.
here's a little photo journal:
Gas giant with an Ammonia world moon, plus 5 more gas giant moons, all with rings - 3 of them also had ammonia based life.
-
...a rather large ammonia world
-

an Earth-like world! ...my sixth Earth-like tagged as 'first discovered'
-

another ammonia world, this one quite cool looking
-

17.25 billion years old? something doesn't seem right about that...
-

jumping in between these guys was quite hairy...
-

stripey!
-

pretty big water world....
-

pink planet!
-

VERY large star. I wasn't the first one here though...already tagged
-

decided to sell my data at Stepping Stone Base and get my Sirius Corp. rep up (started off as neutral)
-

woop! 7m credits and allied! now I can get my Sirius Permit!
