Dazzle shell???

Ok im at the engeneers favor screen and i was thinking a combo of taget breaker and dazzle shell on my APA vulture would be interesting.

Break the lock and i presume stop the enemy from re targeting you for a moment? I can find no videos of the effect in action and have never noticed it being used agains me so i have no idea what the effect actualy does/is suposed to do?

After a google all i can find is a post about it not working and a bug report that turns into a discussion about screening shell not working... so not very informative.

Does it work?

Whats it ment to do?

Is it range specific and is there a cool down?

Any info would be great :D

If its rubbish or doesnt work a double target lock APA i think may generat a similar effect but i have a feeling it will get balanced into having a cool down (i think it should have one even for a second or two for the very idea i have being an untargetable vulture lol)

It has kind of a short chaffing effect on enemy targeting systems.

It's not worth going specifically for it, imho, but it cold be useful in some situations...

That's dispersal.

Dazzle reduces sensor range...which is alright in a wing, but since you partially resolve automatically to the target you're shooting at, it doesn't do much good in smaller combats.

Ah, right. Sorry, OP, thank you, Morbad. :)

Humm sounds lame! *kicks dazzle shell to the kerb* thank for the input.. i say this needs a buff as i will never choose it over the other options... but hay ho double target lock it is :D

Dispersal and target lock breaker can be the most frustrating thing imaginable against a gimballed reliant opponent.

Minor thread-necro here, but I'm looking at playing with PA's again, so it's appropriate. :)

I use dazzle shell on my silent builds, seems to work beautifully.
How do you run a silent build with PA's? Wouldn't they generate too much heat and increase your signature?

I made this report about the screening shell. after 2.2 they "fixed" dazzle shells, but the effect wont be usefull unless in a SR ship. And the weapon you use also makes the effect stronger or weaker, on a plasma, you can become unresolved for about 4 seconds. and If you are silent running you become INVISIBLE for 4 Seconds.

Not really if you use efficient plasmas, and have 4 pips to weapons. plus everyone that fights with SR is turning off SR when not in target.

My FGS uses Dazzle, Dispersal, Lock Break, Phasing and Thermal... it's really not much fun to get hit with all of it at the same time - assuming you're in anything larger than a cobra 3, as anything Cobra 3 or smaller tends to go up in one shot.
