Yes, 2.0 is going to be amazing! I have a lot of catch-up to do, as I haven't played seriously for some time (damn you, real life!). I am still a decent mud mover and can fly a KA (my fav) quite efficiently, but I found myself a bit lost at times in the A10C.
Only this one missing in my DCS collection at the moment, I will wait for some opinions on the quality after little disappointment with third party HAWK plane.
But I know that RAZBAM did some planes for FSX that were pretty good.
So far it's an amazing bird to fly. The flight model is said to be weird at times, but already impressive. The roll rate feels suspiciously high, but apparently, it's the way the real thing behaves. And there has been some rumble about the FBW deactivation, mostly because players forgot to use "sim" settings instead of "game", if I understood correctly. One thing for sure: in sim mode, deactivating FBW during flight has hilarious effect. The definitive kind, mind you.
I've only recently started tackling DCS in earnest with the release of the Alpha of version 2.0 (and it's much improved VR support). Because each aircraft is so complex, it takes a while to master each one. So I've decided my 'career' will consist of starting with the earliest jet, and moving on chronologically only when I've completely learnt it's systems.
Currently I'm at the X86 Sabre. I may learn to take off one day.
Ha! You will, don't worry! I'd suggest you try the FC3 planes, if you can. You'll learn faster, and be able to have fun in MP. Having fun is a big part of the learning process in that sim, as it can get very tedious.
That's indeed the problem with DCS. Modules are so complex that learning them is a full time job. The A10C is ridiculous, in that regard. When I began DCS, I focused on the Shark, because I love helos. Reading the 300+ pages manual helped, but kind of worried me about the A10C's 600+ pages.
