Deacl creator and paint tuner ( Big Money option for FD $$)

Alright, seen a lot of request for things such as new decals and even paint schemes. FD I have a Proposal... paint tuners and decal creator.

I respect that FD has to make money from somewhere. otherwise we would not have Elite as it is today. I apologize to all players for this...

-Decal creator

As an expansion to Livery section, Players can purchase a decal creator that contains a vast range of shapes, Elite themed icons and colours that can be adjusted, cut and cropped to create an extremely flexible customisation tool. Holo-Me has been a great kick-off in customisation. It can be done again!

If the tool was available in the Frontier store at a justifiable price of 20 Pounds, even if a quarter of players purchased it you'd be looking at sums of millions. I believe that players would find this more beneficial than buying individual decals. the aspect of personalisation would be a major eye opener!

if any offensive images are noticed then the player can simply be reported, there is no need for misuse of the tool.

-Paint Tuner

Allowing players to customise their own paint scheme would be rather messy. a much neater option is the use of a paint tuner and templates (sold separately ;) ) to apply to ships. these already pre existing paint schemes can have colour adjusted from a large list of different individual colours. This (like the decal creator) is available in the livery section. The tuner divides the ship into it's core colours. for example viper into black and yellow (default pattern) or in the case with the Anaconda just black (ish). these colour can be toggled to suit the players liking without ruining the appearance of the ship.

In cases such as the add-on paint schemes with different patterns, Templates can be purchased with basic patterns such as camouflage and ignition. Ideally rather than buying a paint pack of six, the player can just buy the template and not be bound to a strict amount of options.

If the Tuner tool was sold between 20-30 Pounds with 10-15 pound templates, there is a high potential for large profits (assuming to create these tools doesn't coast many millions to create/ integrate into the game) even with small audiences using it, of which I can almost guarantee that most players will favour this over buying individual paint schemes.

to add to this yet again, another purchasable expansion is the addition of metallic paints (such as gold, chrome, shiny colours ect) to add to the customisation of colours, (A Gold Beluga sounds pretty promising ;) )

I am Jaylem and this is my proposal

Thankyou for your time!

At first I jumped on this idea with much enthusiasm, the decal creation kit that is.
But then I started to think about it some.
Here my point on it:
I really, really like items in games to be rare. It makes them desirable, unique and cool.
A creation kit would be good for me as to make the ship how I want it. But then I would not have the feeling of pride as I would if decals were earned from missions or by reaching milestones.

I don't dislike the idea, infact I think it is pretty great.
But I also see a future as i WoW where every player has "legendary" or "epic" gear without any requirements. And that worth avoiding.

Jaylem,

I'm totally on-board with your idea and I think it's a great one. Something to spice up customization is almost always good. Plus, it gives players a chance to add to their own story and add lore to their ships also. Wings could have matching "uniform-like" paint schemes for their ships. Player factions and communities could all have a logo for themselves, and the list goes on. Those logos could also be used on player-created sites, forums, etc... To tackle the issue of people re-creating paint schemes/decals that frontier has already made (could be argued), they should just make the decal creator/paint tuner cost more than any of the paint schemes or decals. That kind of fixes the money side of it. Like you said, those that misuse it could just be reported. Not that anyone would really care except Frontier?

I'd be good with a template-based system also. I think allowing people to make shapes is basically the same thing as a scheme creator. Something like in Forza where you make a giant square of a certain color and just stretch it over the whole car(ship) is just like painting in most cases. I like that ships would be limited to pre-defined shape coverings rather than pixel-based paint. I paint cars for iRacing and there are definitely some stupid lookin' rides out there; largely because people are given the freedom of editing individual pixels (third party programs that is). Anywho, I think your idea is a great one. I honestly don't think it would be a multi-million dollar expenditure for Frontier to input something like this into the game. Honestly, I'd be ok with a browser-based paint tuner/decal creator. Log into the website using your credentials, the site populates what ships you own, you click, add templates/shapes/ideas/schemes/whatever, click save, and bam you're done. iRacing has something like this on their website and it definitely works. It just uses patterns and the editing of color swatches to create a paint scheme. Can't be all that expensive. I'm in. Hope we see this noticed and at least analyzed by the devs. Have a good one!
