Very interesting concept.

A new Sitcom from Channel 4, focusing on the online lives of a group of MMO gamers.

As some of you know I've been playing ESO a lot lately, so the timing of this show is humorous in itself to me.

As a regular MMO gamer, let me tell you this: Dead Pixels is an accurate depiction of our lives in the virtual worlds on offer.

There's clearly been a lot of thought put into this show, and I can see the producers have taken the time to research in the real world, and have obviously spoken to real gamers.

In all, it makes for an interesting view on a common aspect of 21st century life, but while being common, an aspect of life that does not get much time in the public eye. After all, ask yourself seriously, how many times do you go down a street and think, "How many of these houses have someone who plays a game for 8 hours a day inside?"

I think it would be safe to assume that this isn't a topic on most people's minds when out & about.

I'm quite enjoying the show. I see elements of myself in it, (we all know that I spend the majority of my life in front of a computer), both positive factors and negative, but that just makes it all the more refreshing.

If you're in the UK, this is worth checking out.

I'll refrain from posting links, as it is very much an adult show, but I've given you the broadcaster and name of the show, so finding it shouldn't be hard.

What was that old web series with Felicia Day called? That was fun as hell. :)

I'm not really into watching films or serials, any more, but yeah, unfortunately, most of the tropes about MMO gamers are pretty accurate, I've noticed.

In a word, yes, they are.

No joke here. I am very much your stereotypical neckbeard gamer. I even live at home!

However, while some might believe I find the show offensive, I don't. Not in the slightest. I genuinely love it.

It's up to SJW to get offended on your behalf. Normal people don't get offended.

The Guild, right? Quite entertaining. And it certainly was more sympathetic than the South Park episode about World of Warcraft.

In a way, managing these identities (perhaps even more than two, depending on the number of games played that require a lot of attention) is probably at least as stressful as it would be for super heroes... or those work-life balance challenged detectives in crime stories or thrillers. But these larger than life characters are considered more engaging - are gamers too boringly normal or still somewhat ostracised?
