Deal to upgrade from PS4 to PS4Pro in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Hi All,

in case you missed it, but in the above mentioned countries, you can trade in your "old" PS4 (and two PS4 Games) for 99,- Euros for a new PS4Pro.

Maybe also interesting for the guys in the netherlands, to make a trip over, depending how close to the border you live ...

Link: https://www.gamestop.de/ps4-pro

I will try to get one tomorrow early morning....

The Pro is probably ideal for ED , even more so if PSVR is supported ... (and even when not ...)

just a heads-up

Thanks for the info. Nice to see some cross platform love.

Interesting! I've started buying digital copies of most games now, so I'd assume I'd be out of luck. Especially with a big external drive attached, the convenience of having all the games on one drive is hard to beat.

With a 42" 1080p TV, I'm not certain if I'd really see the benefits of the Pro anyway.

It'd be nice to see this kind of deal in the U.K. I'd probably do it just so I'd be "future proof".

This is my thinking. My TV is only HD, but over 10 years old now. Flat screen tellies aren't like the ones from my youth which would last 25 years and when they broke you could just have them repaired so I expect it to go in the next five years or so. Having a 4k PS4 Pro will make it worthwhile getting a 4K tv then. Some of the games that are being launched now are so damned gorgeous it would be great to see it in 4K. Horizon Zero Dawn is stunningly pretty. Add to that the extra power for games and a 1TB drive, it was a no brainer for me.

Yeh while I was trying to play holdout, I succumbed. ShopTo had the PS4 Pro + Horizon for £344 and because a friend of mine kindly offered to swap a bunch of Amazon vouchers I had for cash, I could resist no longer. Hopefully I will be able to sell my PS4 OG for a few quid also. I too only have 1080p but for the most part it seems developers are getting on board with this and tweaking for PS4 Pro and 1080p. Seemed to start pretty rough but things seem to be looking up now for 1080p owners.

With respect to Elite Dangerous, I have probably errr'd again as we really don't know what FDev plan to offer with PS4 Pro, they have been vague at best. Still its also got 3 USB ports. :)

Maybe someday I will get a 4K TV as when mine is retired they probably all will be.

I have a PlayStation Pro having traded in one of my launch PS4's for one. I can tell you that you will notice that the fan is quieter. That its load time and menu's are snappier. With out a side by side comparison any graphics or frame rate boost are hard to notice. I also have PSVR I bought after the bought the PRO. One of the main reasons I traded for the PRO is because of my plan to buy PSRV for improvements it gave to PSVR. I am very happy with both purchases. I feel graphic detail in Elite will be slightly better on the Pro, and if we do get VR support at some point that extra power will make a difference. No one really needs to buy a PS PRO as games still play fine on PS4 and PS4 Slim. It's that wanting every little boost, every fine detail you can get out of your PlayStation even on 1080P that drove me to trading in for one.

BTW. You can always trade-in at gamestop so if you got a ps4 but no games to spare does not matter...

You only will have to pay a little bit more for the upgrade!

Also not all games will do! There is a list on their webside telling wich games actually trade.

In my case e.g ps4 + Controller paid a 154€ of the 399 the Pro costs at Gamestop. ( i thing they even payout cash )
