With so many people with alt accounts and getting new free accounts via Epic.
Now would be the perfect time for your minions at Fdev to give us an Ironman(dead is dead) Open only mode.
Make it so the account has to be New and then lock it (with a warning) into the new Ironman Open only mode.
And reset the save if the Cmdrs ship is destroyed.

Hard pass.

Without an eject and S&R function, this would be so niche, I doubt there would be enough playing it to even bother. Now if the mode were made where one can eject, but still loses the ship...fine. Even have it where the player dies if they fail to eject and has to roll a new CMDR. But outright reseting accounts over a blown-up ship?

Toughen all ships by x10. You don't lose your whole fleet but there is no ship insurance. All ships cost 100x normal. Death resets all faction and engineer reputation, credit balance is set to 0. Your commander name is retired to the hall of fame or infamy along with cause of death. You have to reroll a new commander. All bounties and fines on existing ships are not reset.

All fines are increased by 1000x. There is no newbie systems. Starting system in completely random in either the Colonia bubble or the Sol bubble. If you reroll a new commander after losing a ship, you always start there. Resetting your save rolls a brand new starting system.

Ships engaged in combat don't despawn when logging out or disconnecting but the ship takes 1/2 damage from other ships until destruction or the player reconnects.

The problem with an Iron Man mode is more people would die to the station opening fire on them, due to getting wedged in the mailslot, than would die in combat.

It is a nice idea though. I'm sure some players would go for it. Just not on their main account xD

Why restrict this to Open?

and there is nothing stopping you from doing this by yourself alreay, you die, wipe your save orsimply do not use the rebuy option and "start over" in the Sidewinder...
