I have several of these Star Trek models and the quality is wonderful, they are made mostly from metal (transparent parts are plastic, obviously), already painted and come with a stand.

People have already extracted the ship models from the game so technically it's possible to make models already. The real question is legality.

I do wish FD would just let us throw money at them for these kind of things (as well as community ship skins)

http://www.moebiusmodels.com/ do some lesser known stuff, they may be a good bet for FD to deal with. I saw an interview with the owner at a con and he said the licensing negotiations was what took he longest for most models.
