Dear Frontier Santa

Dear Frontier Santa
Firstly, I want to say thank you for another 12-months of Elite Dangerous dedicated service to commanders and explorers across the Galaxy. You are a fantastic, creative and intelligent team of people and have brought me many hours of peaceful, relaxing exploration and adventuring amongst the stars.
As the big day is soon to arrive, might I be really cheeky and send a Christmas wish for your consideration?
I would like to propose a highly advanced and experimental project – the ‘Deepstar project’.
‘Deepstar’ will bring the best scientific and engineering minds in the Galaxy in the Christmas spirit of togetherness, peace, goodwill and for the unified endurance of humans across the stars. Elite Dangerous has available a series of specialist engineers, advanced knowledge from ancient Guardians and Thargoid races and countless discoveries from brave, adventurous commanders who continue to investigate 400-billion systems!
Project Deepstar will focus on this gathered knowledge to pioneer new ship technology. The goal will be to build a new vessel specifically for deep space exploration. The ambitious specification will include –
  • A single seat, light vessel capable of extended endurance away from the occupied ‘bubble’
  • After engineering, including experimental FSD booster advances, capability to jump 100-ly’s
  • Internals to allow a decent fuel scoop, AFMU, SRV, Cargo rack (sufficient to take aboard minerals etc for ship repairs), surface scanner, mining laser
  • The light hull will be formed from Deepstar project’s brilliance, incorporating engineered ‘Subfrezium’ coatings. Thus, enabling the vessel to almost sit at a star’s core and still feel cold! The downside being a hull incapable of withstanding any type of combat, but necessary to maintain a low mass for extended jump range
  • In the place of limpet controller and limpet storage, Deepstar will reveal to the Galaxy Its, until now, top secret breakthrough into ‘Tractor beam’ technology. A truly experimental piece f engineering – the tractor beam generates tremendous amounts of heat, thereby preventing its install in any other vessel in the Galaxy, other than that of Deepstar
Oh, and should you find time during the next 12-months, a few quality-of-life advances would be really appreciated – say, once engineers are unlocked being able to add all blueprint recipes to the ship’s computer; A ship livery editor; a ships computer able to process Galactic trading knowledge such as the current third party tools everyone has to visit in order to get the best from Elite.
Happy Christmas to you all and stay safe. Mark Woodward
