Dear Frontier, thanks.

Hey guys, I just want to say: Thank you for being a developer that listens.
I know we, the players give you guys a lot of grief. But your interaction with the community and responsiveness to community concerns clearly demonstrate that you hear us, and you are trying hard to make Elite the best game it can be. It's clear that you guys love this universe/game as much as we do, and little changes like the way your destinations don't keep gliding past anymore once you trigger your supercruise exit just show that it matters to you too.

Thank you.

Fd is doing a great job out there with elite....

I have very appreciated they take in considerations community's opinions.

Thanks again.

I care about positive threads...

I like the fact the listen, too. Just the fact they opened the poll about the ship transfer makes me want to keep playing the game, even if the option I don't like is the winner.

Agreed. I think many of us take FD and ED for granted, I know I do. It's so easy to get caught up in what we want and in doing so, lose sight of what we already have. It's the best space game (I won't say "sim", because it isn't) available right now and I don't see that changing any time soon, if at all.

Hats off to the devs and of course to our glorious Lord Braben, long may he reign \o/

I agree.

I love the game , the only time I ever complain is because I love it.
I think that nothing comes close.

The game has issues , but its pros are unique and infact no other game is aiming for what elite is.
As SC for example is aiming for something like elite , but elite has a bigger scale (real space , massive ships and stations)
And currently that might mean nothing , but when we walk around an anaconda it will dwarf everything SC has (unless the walking around is not that good , but I cant see that ever happening)

As super-critical as I have been of The Engineers, I do care to point out what wonders they have created, and I do prefer being positive over being critical. Say it like it is but don't forgot to be super-thankful as well. A big thanks to Frontier!

We got it pretty good here considering what a niche audience it is. In the years to come this will be way more obvious and we'll be just as nostalgic about this as the older games!

Good job, folks! Now hurry up and finish Season 2 so I can give you money for 3!

Human nature is contentment means little desire for activity, so discontentment always has a louder voice. Doesn't mean that effort shouldn't be made, like threads like this.

I am very glad to see they've reconsidered the hardline position on transfers. Especially given it was very clear from their summary that many of the comments had been read, be it from the games team or relayed through board staff, and considered on their merits. Sometimes, when you have a thousand tasks on your shoulders, it can be hard to see the wood from the trees. Regardless of personal preference, there's no denying there are issues with instant-ship transfer that aren't obvious straight off the bat, and are easily missed because the effect can be considered subversive to the game mechanics. Immersion aside, there are strong concerns to be considered in whatever way seems fit.

And that's the beauty of forums like this for developers. Yes, it can be headache, yes there are a lot of whines, but you are essentially reading up on the reports of unofficial game testers. This game is in constant development. We are testing the game in bigger numbers and in some degree, in greater detail, than game-testers (though not as methodologically - I'm not knocking the hard work of game-testing). Sometimes a 500 page thread ends up being a 500 page report where those odd people who are testers-fans-consumers are really pulling apart the issues in the way game development might not get time to do. 500 odd pages or whatever on one of the smaller game changes to 2.2 - that's a lot of input.

Yes there's sifting through it, but even when forums are negative, they can be positive to the project - if the developers are professional enough, and cagey enough, to use their community to the benefit of the game.

And that's what I like - I don't feel there's this alledged need to pander to the consumers. Decisions are made that will suit the game, or at least, that's the attempt, with users and developers working in synergy.

So yes, I think its a shame there isn't more positive comments, but the negative can be positive for the game, even if it can be a headache for the developers.

I'm really enjoying the game.
Except powerplay. I don't get powerplay.

I think they've done a great job and from my perspective have certainly met the brief.

A few tweaks and balances here and there. Its not perfect by all means. But it's doing something right because it's all I play right now and that's all that matters.

I am always pleased to see when the developer takes genuine concern on board. They have actually done a pretty good job and much of what has been done, is great.

I am not always pleased to see the results, however, when good intentions can lead to poor experience, through the myopic lense of commander interest. It can also create a situation where a small QoL feature can overshadow very important changes that get bumped down the pipeline. When that happens repeatedly, I have to at times ask where commander interests actually lie.

There is a balance between allowing us, the players, to voice and help set the tone and pace of the game; this is a wonderful thing, but it's a double-edged sword as this is in direct conflict with the developer also ensuring the basics aren't brushed aside in the process; the latter is something I believe Frontier continue to struggle with.

They are human, they do the best the can. I would like to see that balance shift so that the latest drama is taken on board, in the broader scope of improving existing mechanics; rather than becoming "the" touch paper for an update, and resulting in other mechanics atrophying due to a lack of investment.

Otherwise, I believe Frontier are in this for the long haul, and one cannot really ask or expect better.
