Dear Gutamaya...

You make some lovely ships, for sure, but you are missing a critical model nearly every other manufacturer provides in some form or another. Now I realize that the Empire are your largest consumers, and while I am only on very good terms with the Empire - they let my fly quite a few (ok, 3 out of 4) of their ships, I can't help but notice your lack of a suitable scouting vessel.

So on behalf of everyone in the Empire who has always wanted to see "what's out there", in comfort and style, without having to purchase a sub-standard ship from your competitors, I implore you to consider this:

The Imperial Scout Ship.

For Internals:

7. Lightweight Alloy
6. Frame Shift Drive
5. Power Plant
5. Thrusters
5. Fuel Tank
4. Power Distributor
4. Life Support
4. Sensors

Options:

6. Cargo Rack
5. Shield Generator
5.
4.
3.

1. Basic Discovery Scanner

Hardpoints:

The current Courier model would make for a good base model, though it would require lengthening the ship frame, as well as widening slightly to accommodate larger components and additional options.

---

With specs somewhere between that of a DBS and an AspX, I think this would make for an excellent addition to the 2nd smallest fleet of ships out there.
Good jump range for a mid-sized ship, some firepower but not a warship, and a nice selection of small (1) internals for all an explorer or scout's scanning needs. A couple larger-sized module spaces to accommodate some options, and in keeping with a cramped but stylish craft.

Thoughts?

Looks like a Pirates dream. For Pirating from not at.

Long legged, punchy and likely with a lower rebuy than the Python. I would worry about the power management though. Also I hope it would not have too much rank requirement, had you considered which rank it would be locked behind?

So long as the internals fit ADS, surface scanner, SRV, scoop, shield, and 1 cargo rack but not much more. I think it can lose a size 1 and size 3 internal.

Maybe drop the size 3 hardpoints to size 2. Explorers don't need guns.

You think that Gutamaya has forgotten a scout ship? Say that to Core Dynamics and their habit of trying to squeeze the entire FSD into the glove compartment rather than the more traditional method of building the ship around the FSD.

The iCourier already fits the OP's requirements perfectly:

OK, maybe it would benefit from *slightly* longer jump range, but engineer the FSD and slap on a few lightweight mods, and she'll make 40LY per jump.

Really, the OP just wants a ship that already exists - the Asp Scout, or Asp Explorer - but with Gutamaya styling.

Every time someone has a ship suggestion its always seems to be an overpowered dreamship with no drawbacks.

With specs somewhere between that of a DBS and an AspX

This suggestions sits closer to the Python than the smaller end ships and seems a more useful version of the Imperial Clipper.
I guess there is a need for a ship like this in the $35M+ range.
..... I'd definitely get one ... I just don't think this describes a handy little low end ship.

We in the Empire already have a scout ship.
Its called the Imperial Courier.

Mine cruises at 406m/s, can boost to 551m/s and, can jump 27 light years.
That's with a full load of weapons, shields, boosters, and a full fuel tank.
I'm currently taking mine to Sag A* and the only thing I did was to swap
the cargo racks for AMFUs. http://inara.cz/cmdr-fleet/11825/159398

I think you are confuse scout and explorer. Or wanna have an hybrid.

Good scout:
4+ internals and some firepower with mid-range FSD

Good explorer:
7+ internals, firepower optional when used otherwise, long-range FSD

and just besides....a class 4 disttibutor for 3x class 1 and 2x class 3??? What do you wan't with that? All-multicannon-noob-loadout? :D even the vulture has a class 5 distributor for 'only' the 2 class 3 hardpoints.

Generally i am with you. I wish for myself also an imperial Gutamaya explorer ship that has the same jumprange than the Anaconda, better supercruise performance and at least 7 internals. Everything else doesn't matter (as long as it doesn't burn during scooping) :)

I'd say we have a gap in the 20 to 50 million range exploration vessels, between Asp and Anaconda.

But when it comes to exploring, what's the actual difference between the two? Guns and shields are only of use VERY occasionally outside the bubble. Cargo space is not a big deal, 32t is more than enough, and carrying it shortens the jump range. The Anaconda doesn't even get a SLF that you can launch to ground with a scarab on board: SLFs are too small.

So though there's a price gap, the difference between them is meaningless for exploring, and the gap could be 10x as much and you'd still be better off picking the Asp unless you just wanted to spend the credits for the bigger ship.

DBX needs a little lift, though, since a scarab means dropping another explorer-required piece of kit, so you either use it without horizons or use a cobra and jump more.

So for exploring, it would be nothing until a Cobra, which doesn't take long, DBX (if it had another cargo slot), Asp. And at the Asp you pretty much get the optimum. Anaconda extents the range a bit, but not massively.

Choosing Anaonda over Asp is like a multirole choosing between Python and Anaconda. They're both so close that you can live with the huge gap in price until money is meaningless.

Dear Customer,

Thank-you for your recent ideas however we have decided not to produce an exploration ship until there are several more Imperial rankings. We also feel that currently no single CMDR has the CR. balance to afford the ship we have designed but never shown. If all of you were to band together your bank balances you may just about be able to afford one ship.

Your's

Gutamaya

Mine have 765 on boost with 36 ly jump range. It still sucks in comprasition for lakons or conda.
Empire need to present a luxury exploration yacht.
