... that your Dev-Elves be able to make asap an enhanced AX shield, and give it to us early in 2023.

"For what? You already have engineered shields!", you would say, grumpily.

Well, Frontier Santa, our shields are useless against the mighty Goids. They are so useless, some players remove them completely and add more hull reinforcement! How absurd is that?

Perhaps, Frontier Santa, with a new kind of shield really enhanced to deal with Goids and their caustic goo we have a better chance to fight against them. Not all players are used to fight against Goids and they need better tools to defend themselves, don't you agree?

So I ask you for this Christmas an AX Shield, able to:
Nullify caustic damage in some measure?

or help to prevent the Goids from doing so nasty damage?

and maybe prevent the piercing damage inflicted to be so intense?

Thanks, Frontier Santa. I will hope you grant me such wish. I will prepare you milk and cookies and leave on my window in case you are hungry and thirsty from so much work.

I'll just fly shieldless, works for me.

Amazing place this, complaints that there is no challenge or danger, then, as soon as there is, the wailing starts and requests for stuff to take the challenge away and make things as bland as they were before!

There's challenge and danger? Where?
My shieldless, defenseless, unengineered T7 seems to evade Thargoids pretty well...

They're not.
Seriously.

I do have a shieldless Krait that i use to solo Interceptors
And i also have a shield tank Cutter that i use in Ax CZ in Open.

Both are fun to fly in their own way.

FYI
Removing a shields is not because they are useless. There are two main reasons:
  1. No shield = smaller hit box
  2. No shield = more power, less heat

The bit I like about thargoids is that it bypasses the huge shield and hull resistances and keeps them as a threat.

Else we will just have AFK builds winning the war, which doesn’t sound like fun.

Boss fights should be hard…. REALLY hard. Regular pilots should not be able to get past scouts until you have mastered flying your ship, repairing and re-arming your ship in the middle of battle, etc… good pilots have made video showing killing Hydra’s with Sidewinders and Eagles. There is plenty of combat for all skill levels in ED…. But Boss should be for Boss! For many people Hydra’s are already Way too easy.
