Dear Zorgon Peterson: I would love to see an Adder MKII

*** said with a lighthearted but serious tone ***

After my recent love affair with the Adder, I would love to see a more combat oriented Adder. [yesnod]

- Please do not deviate too far from its current design (keep the wing shape) but perhaps do what Faulcon did with the Viper MKIII -> MKIV and make it a little more "aggressive looking". [yesnod]

- Please keep its agility (approx. 8/10) [yesnod]

I really think the boys and girls too would like to see this. [yesnod]

Kind regards,

O

Fdl aint cute enough. Agility slightly lower (6.5), three c2 hardpoints, slightly reduced jumprange (+-18), one extra c3 internal. Thrustersize 4 so not the superthrusters from 2.1 adder mk1 has, but bit faster than 2.0 adder mk1. PD 3, +-1mil.

I think FDL is bigger bro of adder. Already here.

i actually think the same. but a medium-sized multipurpose adder between AspE (less jumprange, but more cargo) and python (less cargo, more jumprange) - that would be amazing!

And it needs to look like the Buck Rogers shuttle, with the docking computer playing the series opening instead of blue danube :p

But seriously, every time I sit in an Adder, I'm reminded of Buck Rogers, can't help it.

There’s only 1 problem with your reply, well it’s not really a problem but…

There is a 50 million credit gap between them? (I don’t have an FDL, sorry not sure of cost)

Something in between would be nice.

I personally see room in this game for a reasonably agile medium fighter with 2 small, 2 medium and 1 large weapon hardpoint, and just enough internals for bounty hunting and CZ work, with a jump range A-Spec'd of just on 15ly.
If ZPG step up to deliver, I'd be more than happy to give them my credits, but I'm secretly hoping that older, more aggressive art for the Core Dynamics Vulture turns into this.
Back to ZPG though, I'd want it to look spartan and almost slender next to the Adder or FDL. Edgier than Adder, but cut-down practical next to FDL.

I spent a lot of time in my Adder. Loved her. Beam and Multi's. Fun ship.
.
Back in the days when it took effort to make some cash. Don't want to derail this thread but making money became too easy. That initial struggle was a big part of the Elite feel to me in the past. Anyhow, a new adder looking more like the box shaped one in the early concept art would be great. Or a similar ship made by the Alliance. ;)

I think that in some way the Adder II is on it's way, but it will be delivered in small packages.

The first package are new thrusters. Unlike the cheap standard thrusters, the new model will cost several millions of credits, but will give the Adder flight performance above and beyond that bigger ships can deliver.

Within the following packages, there will be an upgraded reactor, capacitor and bulkheads. Each of them will cost several millions again, but again give the ship a massive upgrade in performance.

While the upgraded Adder will still have the same shields and hardpoints as before, its higher agility and durability will give it much better staying power, while the souped up reactor and capacitor reduce energy limiations and allow to use stronger weapons, resulting in an increase of firepower.

With all these upgrades, the ship will be able to compete with many bigger ships. Of course, while the basic version of the bigger ships come with a higher price tag, the cumulative costs of the upgraded Adder makes it more expencive than A-rating the bigger ship. Thus all the "but for all my credits my big ship must be the most powerful" suddenly are at a loss, when the upgrades make the small ship just as expencive as their slug.

That all being said if you consider this idea strange, just google for the VW New Beetle RSI. It's a version where the new beetle is upgraded to perform like a Porsche racing car, at a price which makes a similarily powered Porsche appear cheap. But there must be some lovers out there, who were ready to pay a lot of money, to have this model perform similar to another model at a higher price. So i dare to conclude, the true Adder lover is ready to invest just as much to also get his Adder to new peaks. :)

I don't believe we need a specific ship versioned by Mk. x.
Just too less imagination. I would prefer if FD fills the gaps of Producers as e.g
Saud Krueger does have only one ship in the Game or Gutayama has nothing
around the 100t class. For the other brands it is the same there are gaps.
If these will be filled you can expect the next 20 ships in the game.
Which will be a lot better for variety and balancing them can be more easy
as a 100t Gutayama will compete against an ASP Explorer for example.

Regards,
Miklos
