Death of a conda? What to bring on your carrier?

So, will the institution of a fleet carrier render our beloved exploaconda obsolete?
Of course she will always have a home on my carrier, but the jack of all trades may get dusty if I can carry a specialized ship for everything I can do.
What has the fastest supercruise? Gonna need one of those to explore systems as fast as possible.
What is the easiest to land that can carry an SRV? Gonna need one of those.
What will be fastest for canyon runs? is the SLF still faster?
Gotta have a dedicated mining vessel, just in case. Especially if carrier fuel can be mined in rings.
Any other dedicated ships you plan to bring?
I just realized...FD is going to make a fortune! I now have to skin and get ship kits for all of these!!

Smaller ships are easier to land. In that case, a Sidewinder should fit the bill.
Fastest ship? Viper Mk III with performance thrusters, engineered to the gills, 932 m/s if I remember correctly.

Fastest Super Cruise? None, I think they're all the same in that regard.
Yep, supercruise acceleration and deceleration are the same across all ships, only pitch / roll / yaw rates are different.

To be fair though, if you want to get from A to B quick, then when it comes to travel time, a ship with a 50 ly jump range (many ships can reach this) will likely beat the carrier's 500 ly range. Unless you can refuel it and jump under ten minutes. So the Anaconda with its ~75 ly range will most likely still remain the ship for fastest travel.

But with the longer jump rate, it will be needed as an exploration vessel, if you want to go where no one has gone before.
It will make exploring take longer, but im not in a hurry

Any discussion about this is frankly pointless until we actually see the mechanics fleet carriers use. What fuel do they use? Can you get it fast enough to justify long distance exploration? How long do you have to wait till it actually makes a jump after refueling?

My bet is on a material that is only found on three Thargoid rocks, you'll need more than a t-10 can carry in a week, and nine weeks for it to finish processing.

didnt they say that fuel could be bought?

I think so. Personally I'd rather just use good old fashioned hydrogen. It would be nice if we could just take a type 9 and outfit it to carry loads of fuel and just dump it on the carrier but they are Indicating that's not how it will be done.

I have a very strong feeling these carriers are going to work very Similar to the cargo ships and fleets in No Man's Sky. The fuel can bought or collected/synthesized and will likely be used to power the additional frigates that accompany it. If this holds up then we will probably be able to send the frigates on their own missions independently and we wont actually see them do anything ingame until they return with their "reward". The "fleet" would actually be the frigates and not you're personal ships. I could be wrong and they might be completely different. That's how they work in NMS so it's a logical guess it will have at least some similarities.

It's all speculation right now, of course. But if we assume that the carrier is basically a mobile space station, and also that you can only jump it to places you've been, then your "main" exploration ship just needs to be able to scout ahead efficiently. For that, a good jump range is still useful. Or, you could scout ahead with a mining ship, and just jump the carrier to your current location once you have mined replacement fuel, and have gotten about 500 ly away.

You know what I'm bringing on my carrier first? My canyon runner iEagle. It's still a work in progress that I have to complete once I'm back into bubble, but it will look like this:

It can't jump, it has only 2t of fuel, no shields, little hull, nothing of any real use on board. But it is FAST. Like really fast. It has the same boost as the fastest ship in a galaxy - that famous Viper Mk.III :) It's slightly slower in cruise, but much more maneuverable and fun to fly. I need this during exploration, so I can stop crashing my main exploration ship every time I see a deep canyon.

That would, actually, be a kind of disaster, ruining a lot of plans :)

Personally, I think being able to take a fleet carrier to Beagle Point without doing anything more risky or challenging than shooting space-rocks would be a 'disaster', but I appreciate that I'm in the minority here.

I expect the refueling to be quite the grind. Like in at least 500 tons of that fuel being required (1 ton per ly jump range) so getting such a ship anywhere will take a while.
Also they said something about upkeep... Wondering if we can sell data on it or if we need to calculate how much money we gonna need to keep the ship running until we return to civilised space again.
