Death Race 3300™ - Death Race Of Death To The Death™ - Inaugural Race "The Afterlife" Sat 18 April
[ROUTE ANNOUNCED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST!]
Death Race 3300™ - Death Race Of Death To The Death™
DO WE HAVE A MISSION FOR YOU!
To determine who is the "fastest" and most "ruthless" pilot in the galaxy on a pre-determined route requiring smart route planning, optimizing refueling stops, and destroying or avoiding PC and NPC hazards in a no-holds-barred "Death Race Of Death To The Death™".
IT CLIPS YOUR WINGS
Recent F: D 1.2 Wings update has finally made DR3300 a reality. It ensures that all racers are in the same instance, so that they can shoot^H^H^H^H ram^H^H^H interact with fellow racers, allowing for a true Death Race Of Death To The Death™!
The update has several features which make for a more brutal DR3300 experience. For starters, you will always see where your fellow racers are. You will be able to nav-lock to their FSD wake. And perhaps most hilariously, you can't commit crimes against wingmen.
It is important to study the above, so you can determine what your strategy is. Will you do careful route planning and outfit the fastest ship possible and run for it? Will you scrap through the race, taking potshots whenever you can? Or will you pack your ship with instagib weapons, hoping to stop your opponents at the starting grid, and cruise to victory in neutral (assuming spectators don't get you)?
FOUR RULES TO RULE THEM ALL
1. You must finish the race piloting your ship. You do not need to be in control of your ship, but you need to be alive and conscious, and in your ship's cockpit.
2. All damage to property, legal, or living or dead persons, bounties, fines, etc. are responsibility of the racer, and DR3300 management can not be held liable for any monetary or material losses occurring to racers, non-racers, or public property
3. If an action is not explicitly forbidden in the rules, it is allowed, and most likely encouraged
4. Rules specific to a certain race take precedence
SEVEN CAUSES FOR A SWIFT KICK TO THE POSTERIOR AREA
1. If you do not reach the staging area at designated time, you will forfeit
2. Failure to pay the entry fee at staging area before race starting time will result in disqualification
3. If your ship is destroyed for any reason (you get shot by a fellow racer, a psychotic station, a non-racing PC, pirate NPC, etc.), you forfeit
4. Failure to promptly follow DR3300 management orders once entry fee is paid until race completion means immediate disqualification
5. Destroying or incapacitating DR3300 management ships, or disrupting communications (in-game or TS) results in immediate disqualifictation
6. If you log off for any reason (game crash, network problems, ragequit, cat on keyboard, etc.), you forfeit
7. Leaving the race Wing for any reason (game kicks you out, network problems, ragequit, iguana on keyboard, etc.) will result in immediate disqualification
WE WANT YOUR MONEY...
... but not this time. As this is the inaugural race, management of DR3300 has decided it is better to do this one for the honors to simplify logistics.
In the future we plan to introduce an entry fee, out of which winners will get their prizes.
WE DO HUGS
DR3300 is very different from the excellent Buckyball races, but management of DR3300 owes a huge credit and thanks to CMDR ElectricZ for showing racing is possible in E: D, for being a trailblazer and an icon as manager of races, and an all-round class act. Please do not hold management of DR3300 up to the same standards.
INAUGURAL Death Race 3300™ - The Afterlife
The inaugural DR3300 called The Afterlife will be a heat race of up to 9 racers total split into three heats, run in Sidewinders. Due to the limitations of wing size, we will run with three racers in each heat/wing, along with a DR3300 management representative for rule enforcement, video and audio recording, and heckling (back and forth).
The Afterlife will consist of up to four heats, with three preliminary heats of three racers each, and a WINNERS heat. Winner of each preliminary heat will advance to the WINNERS heat. There will be no SORE LOSERS heat.
If a heat results in all racers with Did Not Finish (DNF) (aka Catastrophic DNF Event or CDNFE) - DR3300 management has assessed the likelihood of this happening at 57% -, the commander with the most hilarious or (in)appropriate ship name or use of winnings* will be picked as a dark horse for the WINNERS heat. If WINNERS heat results in CDNFE, management reserves the right to re-run the heat once.
BONUS RULES SPECIFIC TO The Afterlife
A. Ship to be used is Sidewinder
B. Up to three racers will be allowed in each heat, nine racers total. Announce your desire to be added in this thread. First come, first served.
C. You MUST include the following info in your announcement:
E. Race route and staging area will be announced 24-48 hours before the race in this thread for all to see, including non-racers. Plan and prepare accordingly.
F. You are allowed to refit or replace your ship between heats. You must refit according to race-specific rules, i.e. you need to fly a Sidewinder.
G. One race entry per Commander
E. Travel to race start system or within a jump or two, buy and outfit your ship, test comms, and fill fuel tank well in advance.
TAKING NOTES AND KICKING HOOVED GRAZING ANIMAL
By participating in the race you give management of DR3300 the permission to use your Commander name, ship name, and any voice and chat communications in preparation to and during the race in official DR3300 reports, including but not limited to forum posts and youtube vidcaps.

PARTICIPANTS
Heat Alpha
CMDR Name: Alot
Ship Name: Sidewinder? I hardly know 'er!
What will I do with my winnings: Onionhead. All of it.
CMDR Name: Samwell Drakhyr
Ship Name: Whoops, Wrong Button!
What will I do with my winnings: Finance another race. Everybody needs more races!
CMDR Name: Snakebite
Ship Name: Dawntreader
What will I do with my winnings: Go straight to the nearest house
RESULTS
We ended up doing three heats with the three racers.
When we headed to the third heat, it was a race between CMDR Samwell Drakhyr and CMDR Alot: both had won one race, so it was down to the third as the tie breaker. It turned out to be a nailbiter of a race, with a certain CMDR forgetting to request for a docking permit, and there was also comms chatter about an interdiction.
In the end, CMDR Samwell Drakhyr aka drakhyr won two out of three races, and is thus the champion of The Afterlife!
* As you need to post your ship name on this thread, remember forum rules. As much as I'd like this race to be for adults, moderators will dropkick you if you break their rules. It is Frontier's forum, they make the rules.

B. Up to three racers will be allowed in each heat, nine racers total. Announce your desire to be added in this thread. First come, first served.
C. You MUST include the following info in your announcement:
- Your in-game commander name. If you wish to remain anonymous until race start, PM it to me.
- Your ship name.
- What you will do with your winnings, if you win
- Latter two will be used by DR3300 management to decide winner in case of draws or catastrophic DNF events.
E. Race route and staging area will be announced 24-48 hours before the race in this thread for all to see, including non-racers. Plan and prepare accordingly.

TAKING NOTES AND KICKING HOOVED GRAZING ANIMAL
- Each heat is expected to take around 20 minutes if at least one racer makes it off the starting line area alive, but be prepared for 30 minutes overall due to preparation. Winners will be required to return for the WINNERS heat.
- Race will be played in Open Play. This means there will be non-racing racers and spectators, some of whom are likely to actively "participate" in the race.
- You must be on in-game wing voice comms
- TEST YOUR VOICECOMMS WORKS BEFORE RACE DAY so that there is no echo, that others can hear you, and that there are no screaming babies in the background. Use of push-to-talk is highly encouraged. Understanding basic spoken English is a requirement (e.g. "wait", "three, two, one, go", "do not shoot at DR3300 ship", "no, I really mean it", etc).
- Use of FSD is required due to multi-system route. Route planning, and jump range and fuel management is entirely up to you.
- You will be required to refuel and dock at station(s), so it is your responsibility to ensure all fines and bounties are paid so that you can dock along your route. Tied to this, do realize that if you shoot at non-winged PCs or NPCs, you might end up with a bounty along the race route, hindering your racing and refueling efforts!
- Management of DR3300 will be scouting the route before and during the race, and may - but is not required to - report hazards on the racers-only TS channel or in-game comms
- Management of DR3300 will try to keep up with the race and video the carnage, and racers and non-participants are encouraged to do the same
By participating in the race you give management of DR3300 the permission to use your Commander name, ship name, and any voice and chat communications in preparation to and during the race in official DR3300 reports, including but not limited to forum posts and youtube vidcaps.
