Death rate of Commanders

Or should that be 'insurance claim' rate?
I read recently that there are over 500,000 'active' ED accounts - whatever that means.
As I was on the cusp of being bored, I idly wondered what the claim rate per day/week/interval-of-choice per account was.

At least it would give some indication as to how dangerous life in the Elite Dangerous universe is.

May be it could be broken down into Solo, PG and Open categories.

Does FD keep data for all this? I wonder.
In game there is a tally of claims for your Commander but no information on hours flown etc.
It would be fun to play with the stats!

Most of my own 'deaths' have been knowingly self-inflicted, as I experimented in a cheap ship, so that would skew my figures. I expect other Commanders will have similar stories.

Same here. Most deaths have come from attempting to land a tricked out viper...boost, boost boosting towards the mailslot in a tight spiral.

I've never lost a ship in combat, though I did lose 160m in imperial clipper to going afk in supercruise....

Yeah, same here. I even go as far as counting my PvP deaths in this category - it was I who wanted to fight 90% of the cases

Yes, it would skew something. If this happens a lot then my wondering was may be time wasted. It all depends if FD collects data on Commanders exercising the right to commit suicide.

It would be fun to have stats.
Personally I have had 2 insurance claims since release. One of those was a collision with something invisible, the other was in a war zone where I accidentally aggro'd some friendlies.
I have had no deaths. It is still impossible as far as I know.

Last night I 'died' 3 times. I guess I should pick better fights. (1 vulture vs player clipper and player fdl).
