Death Stranding IS NOT an Epic exclusive!

I watched a few scenes with the player losing balance and tumbling down a mountain side. Watching his fed ex/ups/amazon packages go scattering about down to the bottom. Had to retrieve them all only to lose his balance again and events repeat itself. Pretty sure this is torture in a video game wrapping.

Annnnnd that was after 20 minutes of speed footage showing the monotonous trek through the countryside. Apparently they want you to pay money for the privilege of playing this. Perhaps threaten your kids if they dont get good grades that they will have to play a few hours of Death Stranding.
Well, I agree.
But let me play the devil's advocate here. You don't HAVE TO stack deliveries and struggle with balance. The same way you don't HAVE TO stack missions in Elite. :)
Apparently later in the game you're going to obtain an exosuit and also vehicles, so... I'd blame that in part on the player as well.

As for the endless wandering, yeah. Not for me, though I have to admit that the game looks gorgeous. If it was more varied, I'd have thought about it. We'll see how it is on PC.

This is quite funny in the forums of a game where a 40 minute SC to deliver a package is not unknown ;)

Must say when I saw initial coverage of the game it looked intriguing, now .. not so much

I haven't watched any reviews yet and am patiently waiting for the PC release so I can play it without prejudice. Personally, I'm just happy that someone designing games is willing to try and be different and creative, to take risks. I get really tired of all the recycled ideas that infest the market.

Being an epic exclusive or not no longer matters to me... If it's only on epic I just get an "temporary unnoficial demonstration copy" until it releases somewhere else, and then buy it only on some big sale (if I like it). So far the only epic exclusives I was initially interested in, Metro Exodus and The Outer Worlds, turned out to be just "meh", I barely played the temporary unnoficial demonstration copies so I won't be buying them at all not even on sale when they finally release on other stores.

The Outer Worlds didn't impress? I haven't tried it yet, figured it looked like a "buy on discount when the eventual game of the year edition goes on sale" type of entry to me. Not bad precisely, just not good enough to get me to part with my moolah. I really do think Death Stranding looks quite good, though, and would buy it in an instant if it had released on PC. I'm currently playing MGV for the first time since it released and man is it freaking awesome.

It's a nice-ish game overall, probably worthy of buying on sale if you haven't tried it and like the premise, It's just not great like one would expect from a Obsidian game. Fallout New Vegas was a masterpiece compared to this, Pillars of Eternity series is one of the best in the genre, but TOW is just nice-ish. I hate the visual style, too fluffy-bunny for my taste, and quite dislike all the idiot-proofing like having floating arrows on top of enemies, even when they're supposedly "hiding" behind something. It's not that I found the game bad, I just didn't find it anything special, just a nice-ish game among many other nice-ish games, doesn't stand out in any meaningful way, I'd give it a "meh plus".

I recommend you try an unoficial temporary demonstration copy first before committing with actual money.

ps: what game is MGV?

Metal Gear V The Phantom Pain.

It's a roleplaying game, because everything is a roleplaying game now. ;)

Most games started off as roleplaying...they just got a bit overly meta at some point.

My friend is playing this and he just got the gun - after 15h lol

Reminds me of Dying Light.

I stopped after 20 hours or so, having kickpunched what had to have been thousands of zombies to their second death, without ever having seen a firearm.

As for the endless wandering, yeah.

I love wandering.

Still not buying this game until it's $7.99 on GOG, but it really doesn't seem that terrible.
